If Canada wins against Italy (Italy has already won the pool, so they may play a 2nd team?), then the loser of France and Brazil is out, assuming the US beats Mexico in 3 or 4. Or else Canada is out.

It's looking good for us. At least we're in control of our own destiny. We win and we're moving onward. Italy is first with 12 or 15. USA beats Mexico and we have 8 or 9. One of Brazil or France will have 8 or 9. The other has 6 or 7. If Canada wins then they have 8 or 9 and the loser of Brazil and France is out. If Canada loses then they have 6 or 7 and are tied with the loser of Brazil/France if both matches go 5 or both are done in less than 5. It very well could come down to set ratio.
Just looked at the schedule and the Brazil/France match is the last of the day.
Just for Pool A, USA plays Mexico first, followed by Italy/Canada and then Brazil/France.
This is going to truly be exciting.

I said this earlier in the thread - I really want France to make it. I love watching them play and would like to see them in an elimination match. But, if they lose to Brazil, then they have to rely on others or help.
Is there any chance that Italy doesn't play 100% vs. Canada due to the fact that they're already in - and didn't the already win the pool.

Does not look like the same team that played Canada and Italy the first two rounds. Hilarious to see Canada doing bad, but they got their gold medal match worth by beating us.

So I'm thrilled that our guys are getting back on track. However I agree with a lot of our posters who would love to see Holt get more swings. It seems with the advent of the Bic that in USA volleyball our middles get fewer and fewer swings- and I just don't understand why. Holy jumps so dang high you can find him 20' off the net! Ah well still love what they are doing

Is a two way tie broken head to head?

Ok, did anyone else notice a play in this match by the French wherein a player was about to hit angle, block was there, so he let ball drift just a bit and hit with his left hand, down the line? I thought it was really clever.

Speaking of Italy, shame on those talking smack about Ivan Zaytsev, 20 kills, 3 blocks, served, passed, was a demon against Brazil.

I thought it was really clever. Ngapeth is one of the most inventive offensive players you will see...have you seen his roundhouse yet?
