Canada leading 10-4 in the 4th set. Canada better win this set to have a shot at a quarterfinal berth. Cheering for Canada right now so the loser of Bra-Fra is going home.

Piano hurt his ankle I believe. I thought Giannelli was 19, but regardless the kid has a huge future.
Zaytsev just trap set Juantorena on an out of system ball, so its 10-4 Canada in the 4th.

I think Canada might be in regardless at this point. Even if they lost in 5, they'd get the point for going to a 5th, which puts them ahead of the France/Brazil loser unless that match also went 5.
Italy has trimmed the gap to 15-13.

Italy has trimmed the gap to 15-13. They would beat Brazil even if Brazil lost in 5 tonight, but I don't think they would beat France if France lost in 5. They would be tied in set ratio, but France already has a pretty big lead on point ratio. Canada needs this set to stay ahead of the U.S. for not finishing 4th in the pool - although not sure there is much advantage to finishing 3rd instead of 4th. |
