The US isn't the only country in the Olympics? Who knew?
Anyway, I just did a little websurfing this morning and found out:
1) A German coach and former medalist was killed in a taxi crash in Rio a couple days ago.
2) There is a huge scandal in Ireland regarding the reselling of comp tickets.
What else am I missing?

The Brazilian economy is in meltdown, the President is being impeached, the old government is being indicted for corruption, the new government might be indicted for corruption, the Olympics are way over-budget, and crime is rampant, but there's a party in Rio!!

There was a Japanese pole vaulter who knocked the bar off the standard with his manhood
Many volunteer drivers weren't showing up on time, so were replaced with professionals
A Russian diver did a belly flop, and got a score of 0.0
Oh, and Russia ripped Canada 3-0 in mens volleyball this morning.

That sucks for Canada. They have enjoyed an impressive summer thus far, and being in that situation in a key match isn't a good way to end it. I haven't seen that story yet, though I did see Gavin Schmitt says he's probably retiring.

And yeah, the same upstanding person who got into a fist fight on the track with his teammate (2011). Hope that 3rd place medal is bitter. Doubt it though

Lochte is too stupid to think up a story like this, he's also dumb enough to be doing crap down there he probably shouldn't be doing….BTW, there have been numerous robberies down there - christ, the guy who is in charge of Olympic security got robbed at knife point after the opening ceremonies |
