Probably Paula Gentil... almost definately. Though, I would love to see a middle blocker get it. However, there aren't that many dominating MB's in the Big ten this year... maybe Cassy Salyer or Meredith Nelson? PG means a lot more to her team defensively that Nelson does though...

I love Big Ten Volleyball . . .
Who will win the Big Ten?
Penn State
Who will be the freshmen of the year?
Kayani Turner, Maggie Griffin, or possibly one of the heralded freshmen coming to Ohio State
Who will be the 2004 coach of the year?
Russ Rose, possibly Jim Stone or Don Hardin
What team will be the disappointment of the year?
Wisconsin
What team will be the biggest surprise of the year?
Ohio State can only improve, which won't be much of a surprise to Big Ten fans. Many have picked Illinois to drop, but they will be competitive again this year, which will surprise many.
Who will finish last in the Big Ten?
Iowa
How many teams will qualify for the NCAA tournament?
Penn State, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio State, Wisconsin
Will anyone take the player of the year award from Gordon?
Tortorello is the strongest contender to challenge Gordon for BTPY.
How many Big Ten matches will Wisconsin win?
13
Who will win the Penn State - Minnesota series?
Penn State
How many freshmen will Jim Stone start?
Three

You all are hard core!!!! You rattle off these names like they're relatives. You've got to be kidding!! Since you are obviously a follower of this site you've likely noticed how little attention is paid to the Big Ten specifically as the most information seems to come from followers of the West where most entrants believe we should all know every player, their shoe size, their relatives, who's come and gone over the years, who's coming next year, which Pac 10 team will win the NCAA this year, who will be national POY ( from the Wests) etc....What a refreshing change, someone dedicating some time and attention to the Big Ten and simply asking others to join in.....

Minnesota should be the favorite. I'm really surprised PSU is being picked by everyone. I still say the loss of Smith + Iceman is bigger than the loss of Busse to their respective 2003 teams.
Plus, there just isn't a substitute for Final Four experience.
But we shall see, won't we?
The Big10 FOY will probably be a setter--and I'd go with Griffin or Simpson, depending on whose team does better. As much as I like Griffin, this probably gives the advantage to Simpson.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think Simpson can win it due to the fact that she already played spring ball with the Badgers... if she's eligible, i'll choose her since I think UW will be better than MSU next year... does anyone know if early-entrants can still win FOY awards?

She'll still be a frosh. I can't imagine her not being eligible. But I dunno. Maybe.

Believe Griffin played ahead of Simpson at SPRI and set their #1 team for the one year that Simpson was at this club. If Griffin was better in club she has a good chance to be better at the next level. Griffin won her second National Title and MVP award under Butler while Simpson played spring ball at Wisc. Regardless, I think it will be OH as frosh of the year.

I don't really think Griff or Simpsn will be strong candidates for this award. I think there are more productive players on other teams such as Meyer (OSU), Price (PSU), Turner (UI), Anderson (NU), and Nilles (IU).

You could have at least moved my answers over too. I know they were there by the time you moved this thread.
