Is there a coach more ruthless about poaching players off of other rosters than Sheffield? It seems a bit ridiculous that he went and stole a kid mid-season. Seriously? The coach, and certainly Sheff, can't and wouldn't approach a player. The player, parents, club coach or someone else would have spoken to staff before any more conversation. What's more, many players would give their sports bra to play for Sheff and the Badgers, or programs of their ilk. Sheff isn't chasing players who are currently in college...unless it's Ebony Nwanebu two years ago. "He can't and wouldn't do that" . . . "unless it was two years ago" So what you are saying is you are CERTAIN he doesn't do this, but he DOES do it? I'm confused.

NO ONE approaches a player before they've expressed a desire to leave. That's an asinine contention.

Not sure if true, but I read elsewhere that Chiaka most likely won't be returning next year. ...i heard this as well and am disappointed as a fan.

NO ONE approaches a player before they've expressed a desire to leave. This is false. I'm not saying it's common. But to say NO ONE is wrong. (I'm counting the college coach calling up the former club coach and saying "we have a scholarship for Suzie if she wants it")

TEXAS is TOO loaded, if they manage to keep all those players and not see any transfers, i'd be real impressed with the coaching staff!

No one approaches a player. Well, other than the hall of fame coach who told my future wife that she was too good to be playing where she was, and that he had a scholarship waiting for her. That was some time ago, of course.

Chiaka is such a dynamic middle kinda of strange considering she only has a year of eligibility left. I hope she doesn't completely walk away from the sport but that is me being selfish. Sometimes life is more important than volleyball.

Yes, you are right, a coach doesn't approach a player in-person face to face. If you think coaches wait until they hear of a player that has already received a release, you are NAIVE. It's very simple - coach talks to current player who played club ball with or HS or JNT and says "why don't you talk to her about coming here", or they talk to club/HS coaches/connections and say virtually the same thing. There is a lot that happens behind closed doors with people talking players into other options.

They may get word from a club connection, former teammate, read it on VT...but they don't approach players. Read what I wrote, dimwits.

Not trying to speculate into the impending transfers at all, but looking at a possible glut for Texas next year. Micaya White and Lexi Sun on the left, Nwanebu on the right, and Ogbogu at Middle are darn near sure-things. That leaves Yazzie BG, Orie Agbaji, Morgan Johnson, and Brionne Butler all to compete for ONE spot. Not saying the first three won't embrace the competition, but I wouldn't blame any of the three for wanting to be a key cog at another top program vs riding the bench at UT. I think Yaazie goes back to pin and takes over for Ebony's role her senior year. I'm surprised we don't have our own 2016 Thread? Should I make one?
