The team looked very good in the afternoon practice I watched. Yes indeedy. There was some concern they might come out playing Idahoish, it being Day 1 and all, but nope.
Still running the 6-2. Bug's hitting has improved a lot from the Spring. I hope they keep it. Having KBow and Bug both on the court is going to make for some exciting VB.
The middles also looked very good, which is nice to see. Nelson made a couple of decent digs, when she served. She also appears to have improved her setting, although we won't see much of that if they stick with the 6-2. (The middles set when the setter dug the first ball last year.) Byrnes was hitting real well.
Tree and Marty were banging away from the outside. No surprise there.
Fabulous defense. Ditto for no surprise.
Jess Jones was not hitting, but she was participating in the drills. If I were to guess, I'd say she plays this year.
This team is going to live up to the #5 ranking.
No Gorf. He's a fair weather fan and the weather is far from fair. High in the upper 50s in August! What the hey? You'd think this was Idaho or something. (Except for the movie theaters and traffic lights, of course.)
(Also no Pavan. I guess she missed the bus or something. Not to fear. I'm sure she'll be there tomorrow.)

I'm sorry that the Goophers didn't show up playing well, or Idahoish, as you were concerned they would. I understand you're expecting another slow start this season, so would hate to see the team playing too well to damage those hopes. By the way... the Moscow-Pullman area has the most movie theatres per capita in the world. I heard a rumor that there was a tall-girl kidnapped in Nebraska or something... you might wanna check it out.

I'm not too surprised, you being a little Idaslow and all. Hate to break it to you, but those are called TVs. Too bad they need electricity to work.

I didn't want to dessert the visiting father-in-law after he'd been in town less than 48 hours.

Uhhh. Hate to break it to you Idahoser, but those were the neighbor's beagles. And he's NOT happy. Golden Gopher is a color, by the way.

Eh, one unhappy fan now, a whole bunch later, when the season starts. What's the difference? I haven't seen that color in my Crayola box... and I pay attention to those things... besides... what school in their right mind would name their mascot after a color? Sounds bloody communistic to me!

Sounds bloody communistic to me! Check that box again. If you got the 64-pack, it's in there. Oh, I forgot! They just have black and white crayons in Idahoo. As for mascots, there's: The Golden Gopher The Cardinal The Cornhusker The Gaucho The Pinkish Yellow I could find more, if you wish.

Yes please, find more.
I looked it up at the official Crayola website for color translation:
The Golden Gopher = Puke Green The Cardinal = Watch out little boys The Cornhusker = A plethora rainbow of blah colors The Gaucho = Puke Greenier The Pinkish Yellow = Had a hard time finding this one... is this for Penn State?

Careful. Isn't this the color for The Rainbow Whiner? Dang. Another thing we have in common... sigh. Still waiting on that extended list.

Ruffda, What did you think of Dee Jackson at the practice? I hear she's coming along well.
