Ogonna is the favorite, but Burdine is the next most likely, imo. 2 years in a row, she's been the Final 4 MVP. She will now be the go to on the outside and I expect she will relish that role and put up big numbers. All that could hurt her is being on a balanced team, so her numbers won't be as stellar as they could be. I think there will be some surprise candidates as well.
I love watching Ogonna play. She has fun out there and she looks to be in the best shape of her life right now. I think she will have a tremendous year at Stanford and will carry them far.

Remember, Ogonna was awarded Pac-10 freshman of the year in 2001 even though Burdine was considered the front-runner. I think Ogonna had a better hitting percentage that year.

Honestly, was the a clear cut leader last year. With Aury, Kim or April?

Ogonna played awesome last night. What I like about the team is that it now appears to have more depth, with players coming off the bench as good as the starters. Ogonna and Nancy really played well last night and I hope to see them on the floor more often and giving the team different looks, rather than just sticking to the starters all the time.

Keba Phipps really needs to pick up her game. Tara Cross Battle is basically there for respect and doesn't lend any real support at the outside hitting position, so its pretty much Ogonna. And with Logan Tom struggling against China, it will be very difficult for USA to win when their outside hitters are hitting so many balls and not putting them away. Heather Bown needs to pick up her play big time. She needs to become a factor. Pure and simple, everyone on the floor for the USA needs to become a factor. As we saw with China, all the different players are offensive threats. USA will not win gold relying solely on Scott and Haneef. The world is too good right now.
