I believe she did continue her success win it counted against cuba.... You remeber the game they had to win just to make it out of pool play! Oh how easy that is to forget!

Unfortunately she wasn't able to do that when it would have counted the most! The Brazil match is unfortunate. US players who finished in the top 10 in the Olympics. Tom is Top 9 in scoring (everyone ahead of her are players from the teams that made the semis) Top 6 in serving She and danilele scott are tied for 8th in blocking Stacy btw is top 1 in digging. (I would not replace her as libero) Haneef is top 10 in serving

Haneef, for all the hoopla she has gotten, underperformed in the Olympics. Hitting .193 won't win you matches.
Cross-Battle should not have gone as a player. I remember she hit a ball on her own side of the net in the US-china match. Ball didn't even hit the net.
Scott was fine.
But all in all, the Beach alumnae stunk at the games. You could squarely put the blame on them.

Yes Tulame - lame indeed...
I can smell the animosity in your post...
Stunk? Underperformed may be a better word...
But as you said, Scott was FINE...
Tayyiba wasn't spactacular, but "stunk" is too harsh of a word... If you watched the matches, it seemed as though a lot of her hits went down... She was usually one of the top in scoring...
Remember that Toshi believes the success of the team relies on Tayyiba's performance...
And although Tayyiba's wasn't awesome, NEITHER WAS ANYONE ELSE'S... INCLUDING LOGAN TOM...
Heck, even Nnamani wasn't that great at all...
So to blame it all on our alumni, is to display your complex with our school's representation...
GO BEACH!!!

Tayyiba has been playing at this level for less than two years.....others, like Logan have been doing it for 7 or 8 years.....I like Tayyiba's future better than some of the curent vets on the team! Her upside is tremendous, unlike Bown or several others on the team!

Her serving was pretty good overall, and she had some games where she hit very effectively. Overall though her hitting was fairly ineffective. Tayyiba had: 27.5% (238 / 863) of the attacks. 25.0% (84 / 335) of the kills 34.2% (38 / 111) of the hitting errors. 19.3 hitting percentage Ogonna had: 07.5% (82 / 863) of the attacks 10.1% (34 / 335) of the kills 07.2% (8 / 111) of the hitting errors 31.7 hitting percentage Tayyiba was one of the top scorers in matches because she recieved more sets than anyone on the team, yet because of her hitting errors she had one of the lowest hitting percentages on the team. The only US starter that had a higher hitting percentage than Ogonna was Danielle Scott at 40.1 percent. The only other US player that had a higher hitting percentage than Ogonna was Nancy Metcalf at 37.0 percent - nearly twice as effective as Tayyiba.

I don't think the team (forget individuals) played particularly well. Did not seem to have much fire or enthusiasm in most matches, especially at the beginning. No cohesion, maybe too much substituting. Maybe it was being at the Olympics, who knows. They have played these same teams before, so there was no mystery. Not a clear cut team leader on the court. I still feel that defense (passing) was the key. Watching the Chinese and the Russian teams play, I was amazed at some of their passes. I wish here in the US we would emphasize that aspect of the game as much, not just how hard the ball is hit.

did i really just read an 'our alumni are better than your alumni' argument?
