Wow, Logan Tom just seems to have a lot of troubles against Brazil. Even in the Bronze medal match of 2000 she struggled. Good effort by the USA considering they never really got to a consistent level the entire tournament. I think we all look forward to the retirement of Keba Phipps j/k.

Right now I’m recalling some posts of VBCOACH who a couple of weeks ago wrote the team doesn’t have enough depth and if a starter get injured/has a night off they would be in trouble. It turns out he/she was right.

I think we all look forward to the retirement of Keba Phipps j/k. the thing is, she played very well against them in the grand prix. the way she was playing in the 2 matches before this QF(RUS, CUB) i would have never seen this coming. Brazil scouts their opponents and they did a great job.

One thing both the USA Women and USA Men can take from this Olympic tournament is that you need to take care of business right away - and every match starting with the first day of pool-play is important.
It's easier to deal with a high-stress tournament like the Olympics when you've controlled your own destiny, and not dropped some early and then had to stress-out waiting for the results of other pool matches that you have no control over.
And...it's much easier when you're the higher seed when you get to the crossover, not squeaking in as the #4 seed in your pool.
On the flip side, this match was closer than I thought it would be. USA hasn't proven it can beat Brazil when the chips are down. On the men's side, Brazil is fixing to administer an ass-waxing to Team Former All-Americans Now International Whipping Boys.

It turns out he/she was right. Actually, it's more than just the depth. It's a matchup problem. Quick teams (Italy and Brazil) have given the USA Women fits this entire quadrennial. Cuba is athletic, but they aren't running at the speed that ITA and BRA are.
