holy crap. i totally didn't except this. i went to lunch when game 5 started and i come back to see Russia won? gross.
russia is such a boring team to watch. just keep your eyes on gamova or shashkova and enjoy the show. nbc will probably show karpol every five minutes - why? do people really want to see some old man scream at a bunch of freakishly tall women?

it would be crazy if Cuba beats China in the other semi. A rematch of the 2000 final would be awesome. Although I am not a fan of Russia but I really hope that Artamanova can finish her career with a gold medal, she had 2 silver already, Virna Dias who is another of my fav, had 2 bronze and is going for her third

Brazil was up 2-0 and also in 3rd and didn’t make it! Wow! According to the stats it appears RUS outdug BRA, which I think, is quite amazing.

What a shock. I almost feel bad for Fernanda and Virna. Total choke on the part of the Brazil. Lots of tears on their side, I'm sure.
CNBC will televise part of this game tonight on the west coast during the 6 pm slot.

Game #4 will be the biggest nightmare from now on for this BRA team (coaches /players).

What is up with Brazil! I thought they were more mentally tough than this.
They were up 2-1 against Cuba in the semi's in 2000.... They should have beat the US in 3 on Tuesday.... now they choke against Russia. They can't seem to finish.

Marianne plays for Ocaso in the Brazilian league. Very unexpected that Russia would come and make it all the way into the final. What I was wondering was that in the men's game, don't you have to participate in a certain number of competitions with the squad before the Olympics in order to be named on the roster?? Chachkova has been so huge in this Russian run, but she hasn't been with the squad in what seems like forever.

I sort of want to see Cuba lose, so that they can face Brazil in the bronze medal match. Who doesn't love a Cuba-Brazil match in the Olympics?

Cuba surprisingly puts it together and takes the 3rd set, 25 - 17. China still up a set though 2-1.
