Efrosini Alexakou, 2018, OH, 5’11”
(Captain of Greek Junior National Team; Greek Women’s VolleyLeague-Starting OH for Aris Thessaloniki)
One of the best hitters in Europe, MVP in Greece’s national championships each of the past three years, and consistently gathering honors and awards nationally and internationally. Efrosini is looking to balance competitive, high-level D1, volleyball with strong academics.
Martha Anthouli, 2023, OH/OPP, 6’7” (6’9” wingspan)
CLASS OF 2023 (US)
DOB: 13 AUG 2004
Pre-Selected for U16 National Team of Greece
D1 coaches who have observed Martha during 2017 have been impressed by how coordinated she is.
Standing next to her in the introduction slide is the Soviet legend, Yuliya Saltsevich. Yuliya is 6’6” and much like everyone who has seen Martha, has been speaking highly about her potential and trajectory in this game. Yuliya herself has been working in the grassroots of Russian volleyball with hundreds of girls in Moscow, including talent taller than Martha.
Important Note:
Martha’s parents are considering a move to the U.S. for Martha to go through high school and play club volleyball, transitioning to US education and volleyball, away from pressure from pro clubs/agents.
Strong academic prospect, interested in veterinary studies.
Elena Baka, 2019, OH, 6’1” (film is from her sophomore season playing against JR/SRs):
Spike Reach: 10’1”
Arguably the best and most athletic OH prospect out of the Balkan region in the Class of 2019.
Since last season, and these clips, she has continued to develop very well. She fits nicely with the women's club team of Aris Thessaloniki in the A1 VolleyLeague, where she occasionally plays some sets and contributes. She's grown athletically and technically from all accounts in Greece, confirmed by her selection to play up with the Junior National Team in the U19s, so with girls a year or two older than her.
Elena's Dad had worked with California institutions' staff several years ago in water polo, trained their water sports athletes in years past, and has since written a textbook as well. He is a Physical Education Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and a guru of Exercise Science, as evident by Elena's athleticism as well as some impressive workout footage we have reviewed. The family has close friends and ties to California. Her priority would be West Coast with some opportunities to play on sand as well.
NOTE:
Elena is also a national beach volleyball champion in Greece and a member of the Olympic program.
Ioanna Charitonidi, 2019, OH/Lib, 5’11”
Two points to stress about Ioanna:
1) She always played against older and more experienced women; ONLY has footage playing with and against these seasoned and professional players, as opposed to other 2018-2019 athletes, who primarily include highlights from matches in their own respective age groups.
2) Because of her excellent defense, passing, and serve receive skills, she was the starting libero for the Greek Junior National Team in the CEV 2017 U18 European Championships, despite being a year younger than her teammates. She will be in the + column and will help be the “glue” for a high-performing team to win and be consistently competitive in NCAA Volleyball.
The highlights above are from Fall 2017 and the Greek Pre-League (Second Women's Division) as the youngest starting OH in the league. Played (up a class/year) as the starting Libero/DS for the Junior National Team of Greece U18 in the CEV European Championships in Holland. Clips from those national team matches and first half of 2017 under:
Ioanna is a sophomore in these clips, by far the youngest player in the Second Division League, featuring older and seasoned players.

Dimitra Tziarli, 2018, MB, 6’2” (film is from her junior season playing against pro women and seniors; starting MB for Greek Junior National Team at CEV 2017 U18 European Championship):
Dimitra is ready with all requirements at the moment including:
-Transcripts received by NCAA EC staff
-NCAA ID# 1710932857
-Anticipating scores from both December SAT and ACT
She is a good student who is close to a 4.0 GPA from Greek high school and is interested in studying Psychology. Academics are important to her.
Primary preferences would be Power-5s and/or Top-50(ish) programs, where she would start and/or develop well for future professional opportunities.
Important Note:
Remarkably, Dimitra started playing volleyball as a freshman in high school. Prior to this, tennis was her first sport and contributed immensely to her lateral quickness. We found out about this in a recent discussion, when she remarked “the wall was my friend…” in terms of the repetition and hard work she put in learning a new game from scratch as a high school freshman. She’s remarkably quick, reads opponents fast, and has impressive blocking fundamentals. She is brutally honest (like her terminating 10ft-line kills,) straightforward, and will ask lots of questions. She is thinking law school after pursuing a professional volleyball career.
