Murphy doesn't need the perfect set, she needs a hitable one. Go back and watch on 2014... Glass was setter her a higher ball and Murphy was doing just fine. The sets were inconsistent and too low last year at the olympics. I fear the same thing is going to happen over and over. Karch wants it fast but the setters can't seem to make that happen as well as make them hitabke balls too. I've been thinking the same thing for awhile and also prefer Lloyd's back sets to her. They do tend to have a higher flight path. On some of the video clips from the scrimmages she had some nice tools on trap sets though. I think that is probably the way to go most of the time with how wonky the sets will be, just try to find a way to scum the block.

Was Whitney not as strong as the other opposites? Also, what happened to Nicole Fawcett?? Is she still playing pro?

I've been disappointed in all the setters so far to be honest... obviously the passing hasn't been great but the sets to left and right are still so low. I honestly think Carli Lloyd has been the only setter to run pins at a consistent height. Carlini will get there but man do I miss Lloyd. This is her time to shine. You do realize they're not setting that low because they want to, right?

You do realize they're not setting that low because they want to, right? Please. Appreciate you being polite, but not sure what your trying to convey. It's KARCH. That crapball silly "coach" who has driven women away from volleyballa nd the national team in droves and couldn't manage to make peace such that the US could bring home gold.

That crapball silly "coach" who has driven women away from volleyballa nd the national team in droves and couldn't manage to make peace such that the US could bring home gold. You can raise the height of the set just a little bit and the speed is still just as fast. Too often you see hitters not hitting the ball at full extension and that is the main problem. Plenty of times even the middle hitters have had to look at the setter and point up like...set me higher please. Foluke and Glass...Glass and Harmotto... happened many times even this past quad, not just with the pins. Against better blocking teams the lower sets just become trap sets when they know where the ball is going.

The sets are and were to low in most of 2016 to the right side. Glass just wasn't consistent and neither are any of these setters in the gym. Lloyd on the other hand could run the rightsize with the quick temp at a hitable height. I know the system all too well.. this is about execution. Quick and Low are not the plan... Quick and Hitable is the plan.

Moot point maybe, but I was told that The hitters thought Kreklow was the most consistent as far as putting the ball at the right heights for her hitters.

Could Kreklow have ever got the nod with Carlini coming? (And Hancock had just played well at Pan Am Cup, I think it was, helping Team USA to the win.)

Kreklow was surprising accurate... I don't understand her leaving the team... again same thing with many players who are now gone... definitely a pattern.

Quick and Hitable is the plan. If Glass was directly negatively impacting the team's hitting efficiency because of her inability to locate the ball consistently, why wasn't she replaced by Lloyd? Why did she continue to start?
