I forget the game scores, but Purdue won in four, with Tech taking the third game. Purdue played pretty well. They made some nice plays defensively and made fewer unforced errors than Tech. Renata Dargan really had a nice match, putting several balls into the back corner for kills and putting her sets right on the money. I think that Tech's hitters are better than Purdue's offensively, but the setting was nowhere near as consistent for them. Tech looks to have some issues. They didn't pass very well, and Laband, despite impressive looking overall stats, made quite a few poor sets. She never got in rhythm with Sauer, who struggles when she has to wait for a set. The first time she was able to hit the ball in rhythm and really unload was at 28-26 in the first game on a set from Kuhn, of all people. They really miss Eveland. The block for Tech wasn't very good, either. They really struggle in a rotation with the freshman middle and the setter on the block, and Gergen only had one block on the match. Moster was by far the best player for Tech, recording the most kills and being the most consistent passer by far, in my opinion. Her jump serve found the net a lot, though. Purdue played pretty well, but Tech has a lot of work to do if they want to win the ACC. I hope they don't shake it until they leave Madison this weekend. Meanwhile, Mizzou versus Purdue for the Badger Challenge tomorrow at 5 CDT. Ugh.
