Yes she just went out the rear exit to join the semi pro league.
Can someone please identify which NVL player will be getting the WSOBV wildcard entry ? Casey Jennings?
Mr. Sun has a long term vision and capital to finance it, why draw this line in the sand and then coerce other players, many already past their prime to realign.
This vacuum will be quickly refilled with the new generation of beach players coming out of college. Who knows long term there maybe enough new talent to field more than one domestic pro tour.

If your the AVP, how do you respond to everything? If Kerri leaves to join a now bolstered NVL, it really looks your a league stuck and not going anywhere. Do you simply drop the exclusive clauses in player contracts? Or does it take more than that? I know this is kinda the eternal question, but what does the AVP need to do to finally break this same old, same old cycle and really stabilize and grow as a league?

I kind of amazes me that a couple of you seem to think that KWJ has as much power in the beach Volleyball world than she actually does. I think we should all let this shake out in the next couple of weeks and let the individual players including Kerri to speak for themselves. At this point in career, I think she deserves to make the choices that benefit her & Family...The AVP owes her nothing & Kerri owes the AVP nothing...End of Story!

I meant as to whether she continues her career with the AVP. Both sides will move on from this and life will move on.

An announcement coming soon, inwithin the next week from KWJ that she is in fact only playing on the FIVB world đ tour in 2017. It is public knowledge on the beaches in CA. Most players have already been informed. Have not heard who April will partner with. Most say Fopma. Not a shock. Glad we will have a definitive statement. I guess we all knew where this was heading. Don't think it would be appropriate to play on a tour that you have a lawsuit against. Sad the two sides couldn't work it out for the love â¤ī¸ of the game & the fans of the game. Big blow to both sides. đâšī¸ Big win for the NVL though. AVP.....eh not so much Well, this could be a big win for USA volleyball and both tours....IF they work together. What really is NOW going to hurt the AVP, is they lost their leverage. they WERE a premier tour, now they let the NVL pull even. 2 years ago, if the AVP negotiated with the NVL, and kind of made them their farm system, it would still be in the AVPs favor (and players). Now, the NVL is on equal footing with Leonard & Kerri on their side. Major props to Al-B for lasting this long, and now reaping some rewards.

Player wise how are they on equal ground? Please tell us the head count of whom has landed where from the athletes camp?

I would think Kerri playing the NVL would be her being on their side. Her playing FIVB is saying I am not playing AVP, but the NVL is also not worth my time..

Will NVL events now raise their prize money? Will they raise it enough to make it worth Kerri's while? Kerri skipped half the AVPs last year when AVP was paying 2-4 times as much as the NVL. Maybe the NVL will just pay Kerri a flat salary to show up each week

AVP defectors v defenders? Finances: Can't find the AVP $$$ per tournament for this year, but last year 5 0f 7 were $75k, 2 were 100k. NVL = 6 touranments for 450K in total purse. that is an average of 75k per tournament. Pretty equal, if you can play in others w/ the NVL. Player wise: Because the players haven't signed, = Equal ground Edit: WSOVB has its own sponsors, AVP isn't listed. So swing these NVL way. Next question.

I think the NVL has made a huge step forward, and am all for more opportunities for the players. But I don't think they're close in $$$ to the AVP yet. Last year The AVP offered 5 tournaments at 75k and 2 at 100k for EACH GENDER for a total of 1.15M, about 2.5 times the NVL's 2017 total of 450K. I am happy that it appears the NVL is going strong though!

However with regards to finances you did the math wrong. NVL had 5 events that were 25 per gender and one that was 50. My math says thats 350k. Maybe I am looking at that wrong but I think thats correct. Where I know you are wrong is with regards to the AVP The AVP had several events that were 75k - 5 of them, but thats 75k per gender. So in actuality each AVP event was 150k. That gives the AVP a total purse of 1.15 million, which was three times as much as the NVLs

But, they could always increase. AND haven't seen AVP numbers for this year yet.

How is the NVL even right now? Well, I think the NVL is even (or more accurately, now a close second) now because of simply Public Image. The NVL has told all players they are welcome to play, and no mention of exclusive clauses. Also, the fact that the NVL is launching at the World Series of Beach Volleyball is pretty big. That alone must be stinging for the AVP, since they were adamant that they were the "only" pro league in the US. Really hard to make that claim now. I'm not sure if there has been any confirmation, but it stands to reason Kerri will play on the NVL circuit this season. Its just a guess, but I can't picture her just solely doing FIVB events for the entire year. If she is doing a domestic circuit with the NVL, this provides the league with even more opportunities. NBC coverage of beach volleyball is, well, sporadic at best, and generally much (if not most) of the focus is on Kerri. If NBC decided to televise some NVL events, that's gonna sting the AVP big time. JB said it: the biggest story is that the AVP has lost its leverage. Suddenly, players might take a step back and seriously consider playing on the NVL. If your one of the top teams on the AVP, stands to reason you could become one of the top teams on the NVL, and not have to deal with all of the AVP's restrictions. I understand the reasoning behind having your players sigh exclusive contracts, but that fact is the AVP really limited themselves. On the pro level, beach volleyball isn't really growing: its kinda at the same level. Don't really see any post Olympic boom. Alot of people who watched during the Rio Games have moved on. If your the AVP, of course you want your league to thrive. Yet the sport itself needs to thrive first before that can happen. And for that to happen, may need to swallow some pride and loosen up a bit.
