NVL cancelled the rest of the 2017 tour.
They are going to focus on the 2018 tour.

NVL cancelled the rest of the 2017 tour. They are going to focus on the 2018 tour. They are done. Unfortunate. Maybe now we see Palm and the rest of those guys in qualifiers. Feel bad for anyone that skipped AVPs expecting to be playing NVL, I wonder if this is a possible downstream of Kerri's injury, not the decision itself but maybe making it now

Pretty sure I called something like this happening a few weeks back, pointing to the fact that contraction of events is the first sign of serious trouble. Well at least now, guys like Evans, Palm & Dentler have no excuses not to go after Manhattan.

Not wanting to sign an exclusivity agreement with AVP is one thing, but avoiding the AVP in hopes of cleaning up on the NVL tour would be incredibly stupid moving forward. They put all their eggs on the WSOBV this year limiting their events for actual NVL players to 4, and then they go and cancel 3 of them to focus on the tour next year. You mean, to focus on the WSOBV events next year partnered with the NVL, basically making the exclusivity agreement from the AVP irrelevant.
WHats to say they won't even have legitimate tournaments for the NVL players next year outside the WSOBV? Forget the NVL and just move over to the AVP already.

And we finally get to see Del Sol dominate the volleyball universe in the AVP like his minions have preached, good luck guy.

Palm is my boy, bit undersized but damn athletic, he best be in Manhattan with somebody.

If Lorenz is back, could see him re-team with Miles as they did well in Laguna.

Where's the info coming from this anyways? I'm not seeing anything anywhere. I want this to be true more than anything.

Too bad. I was actually just as much a fan of the NVL as the AVP coming into this year because of the intimacy of the tour, but the AVP has been rock solid awesome this year and it's been great getting to know the lesser players and hearing stories on the streams. I hope the AVP can find a way to capitalize on some of those sponsors the NVL had and continue to grow their product.

Serious question: what are the odds there will be a 2018 season at all for the NVL? Or from here on out is it simply going to be a WSOBV with NVL courts on the side?

Good post Travis tho I wouldn't include Schoonover in list of players to successfully crossover, certainly not listed ahead of Marciniak. The other three have had legit success, not qualified for one watered-down tourney.

Another well done, heartfelt piece from Travis. Agree 100%: I'm a fan of both tours (3 if you count FIVB). I always liked the atmosphere of the NVL, was really hoping (although was admittedly a bit skeptical) that we would see more from the tour this season besides what had already been annoucned . Just wonder what's next.
