Would think it's a 24 team draw but maybe 16. They don't cap qualifiers so however many teams sign up

What does it cost to run a qualifier? I seem to remember the entry used to be $100 or so Manhattan would have been $17,000 just for that. Is the AVP profiting from these or do the ref salaries, site fees, etc. at all that money up?

The Refs are the biggest cost, but I think they only use an up ref., Which is probably 80-100 per match.

Q's are 150$, always a $$ maker. No different than your local tournie that pays out everything received in Open $$, but keeps (minus prizes, t shirts, etc) all other entrants $$. Factor in the AVP getting sponsor $$, one can quickly figure out Q's are the backbone of a professional tournament. Pay the ref 75$, get 300$ per team, it wins.. That's why there will never be a points based minimum, etc, or whatever was discussed in another thread. Simply never going to happen.

Qualifiers are $200 a team. Do you know if teams that get in get that back? I thought MD teams have to pay to enter? Not sure why they'd get theirs back.

I didnt realize MD had to pay as well. I'm pretty sure on that, but not 100%. Of course, there could be a ranking threshold on that. I don't see Phil and Nick, etc. paying.

All players have to pay to play regardless if they are a random poster on here that wants to give the AVP a shot or if they are Phil Dalhausser. Main Draw players make it back in prize money. Quailifiers give it as basically a donation to the AVP.
