If she wants to play for a Power 5 conference so badly then let her sign with one of their bottom feeder teams. She will get her wish probably at the price of experiencing lots to losing and misery. But that's her choice to make chasing the conference name as opposed to a school that may be a better fit for her. This is a common mistake many a players have regretted. Haha. Take it easy small school guy. I played sports at a small school and loved every minute of it. I have kids playing sports at large schools and smaller schools. That's the caveat. "Misery" is a little aggressive. For instance the kids at Clemson have lost a ton, had three different staffs, etc. But by all accounts they seem to be really really enjoying themselves (and experienced a football national championship and all that fun). That might not be a great VB experience but "misery" just doesn't seem to be a fit. And this particular player was committed to a Power 5 that went 1-17 in conference last year. She knew what kind of VB misery she was committing to. It's not a sentiment towards smaller schools. There are some AMAZING institutions within the power 5. She is just geared towards the reputation and prestige of being a power 5 athlete, she'll miss on some other amazing opportunities. It sounds like she just wants the name of a big school and nothing more.

Yes, Tawa refers to them as the Next 25 in the prologue. The "just missed" is the category he uses for the last article which identifies approximately 35 players that "just missed" the 250. I was just clarifying as it seems you have combined wording from one category and the # from the other. He refers to the 25 as JUST MISSED... He uses that "just missed" terminology for both lists this year. In years past he used "next 25". I think it's been determined which list she is on at this point. This coach also went a different direction with another 2018 when he first arrived. It also had some people hot about how that was handled but that kid got scooped up by Tenn almost immediately. My guess is that the same will happen in this case. Hopefully it does!

I don't think he is helping his reputation as a recruiter. Really feel for the kid, and like the Professor, I hope she lands somewhere that make her and the program very happy.

It is one of the kids mentioned in the prologue who, to use Tawa's words, "JUST MISSED OUT" on the Top 100. And theres only 1 6'1" OH listed. Cant believe that school would drop her 2 months before signing day. Terrible. If you can't believe they would drop her 2 months before signing day, you haven't been paying attention to what that staff has been up to since they got there...

This is very bad. When was the announcement of his new coaching position? Has it been almost one year? The decision should be made a long time ago before the last club season. Best wishes that she will find a school she loves and contributes. And I believe she will.

The fact that she claims it has to be power 5 reeks of spoiled to me. The Power 5 is my words of the athletic environment, doesn't have to be and certainly not every P5 is a great fit for this kid. I know the things she loved about the previous school she committed to and am trying to find the best fit for her.

Best wishes that she will find a school she loves and contributes. And I believe she will. He was hired in late Dec 2016. His 2018 recruits when he arrived were a SC Middle, Tenn OH and AZ OH. I think this is correct but I wouldn't swear to it. Two were released immediately and now the 3rd has been released. Current 2018 class looks to have 2 remaining players from Cali and both were originally committed to LMU. I guess he knows what type of player he wants for his system.

Tommy pulling it at this late date? Wow... This isn't from the 25 just missed list. It's from the "Next 25", correct? This would put this player in the 101-125 category. This kids a gamer and may not hit this particular coach's measurables but she knows how to win points, sets, matches and championships. Some of these coaches get so caught up in the science that they totally discount a players ability to win! Thank You!! Yep, absolutely a gamer that is a terrific volleyball player and just WINS!! Just couldn't be a better kid and teammate and deserves a great home. Whatever program lands her will be very happy with the gem they get. I have been around this kid in some coaching capacity for seven years and my kid absolutely loves being her teammate.

The original poster described this player as "she just wins." You said she knows how to win points, sets, matches and championships. You also complained about coaches discounting a player's ability to win. Well someone who commits to a team that went 1-17 is not going there to win a championship. She may be going there for a free ride, or to have fun or for good academics which is all fine. But you're right, "Misery" is a little aggressive for someone not looking to win a championship. Just stop implying she's someone about winning and I won't make that mistake.

You are really reading a LOT into the original post, which is clearly trying to do nothing more than find a good home for a kid who got a raw deal. I am really not sure why you think that questioning the kid's interests or personality is called for here.

I don't know her but I have watched her play in club and high school and she's a kid that's getting picked first by the kids in a pick up game. And apparently not by Volleyball Scientists! Last year in Durango I saw her dominate a match that had everyone's favorite freshman UF Gator on the other side of the net.

Doesn't every player that wins and has confidence in their abilities think they can help a program turn a corner and win...especially if a coach paints that picture and there is a good fit with everything else? I'm not saying a conference championship per say, but being a tournament team was a goal they talked about and being one of the players that helps start the climb?

Missouri has to replace Melanie Crow and Sydney Deeken next year, so that would be a spot to look into.
