"Self-taught?" She's been part of USAV's high performance training group since she was in the 8th grade. I don't think Ali, Rico, Loiola, Barb, or Alzina (who have all coached her) would necessarily agree with the self-taught line. Regardless, she's a really good kid, and a very physical player. She has the ability to become a very, very good player at the next level. I agree she is a fabulous player but I did think it was odd about the "self-taught" comments. She has more training and experience than many college players already. Heck, three months training with Kathryn Plummer and a private coach alone, followed by World Championship experience is super valuable!

I think I'm going to run up to the Stetson tournament tomorrow and watch the early matches. SC vs. G St and Steton vs. Eckerd anything I should be paying attention to?? SCU vs GSU should be a good match, I'm curious about the depth of both teams. If you can share the quality of play of 3-5 seeds that'd be great. I'd skip the Eckerd vs Stetson, that should be a walkover. FSU vs FAU is another good match on paper, if you can stay til lunch. Usually both peak early, but both teams are much different than last year. Wondering about the physicality of both squads (height and hitting power). I'm curious on your ranking of those 4 teams SCU, GSU, FSU, FAU from an initial look, as 2-3 NCAA bids will likely come from that group. Also, bring rain gear, I heard there may be bad weather.

Didn't get to see the 4&5 of G St vs. USC, from the 1s and 2s matchups, both 1s are scrapy, no real blocking. USC 1s were just more consistent. They get you out of system, they're going to score. In the 3s USC served very well, 1 girl was consistently scoring from the baseline. In the 2s, the. Player Lydia for USC, I thought she was the best player in this whole match up. Interested in their record vs the 1s.
