If this position is part time, maybe they can get hired at Dunder Mifflin as well. Position is part time, 5-7 thousand.

That seems like an awfully good hire for BC. I wonder if that signals an increased commitment to the volleyball program. I don't know Kennedy but it would not seem like he had a lot of leverage to bargain with. "You need a job? We have a job."

Yes, he was unemployed, but there were a ton of head jobs open. BC is a pretty challenging one.

No real increase in commitment. A couple of proven HC's interviewed in December. Liked the new AD and the other 2 new administrators. But they came across as they will be happy to finish somewhere in the middle of the conference and give the S-A's a good experience. They have big debt, major gender equity issues that is going to take time to take care of. So VB is not the big priority.

ocusports.com/news/2018/1/9/restrepo-takes-over-as-ocu-volleyball-coach.aspxOKLAHOMA CITY – Santiago Restrepo has been hired as Oklahoma City University's head volleyball coach. Restrepo completed his 14th season as University of Oklahoma coach last year. Restrepo led the Sooners to their finest era in program history, guiding OU to a 242-192 record with eight trips to the NCAA Tournament in nine years. "I'm excited that Santiago will be joining our department," Oklahoma City athletic director Jim Abbott said. "Santiago has a wealth of experience and a great understanding of volleyball in Oklahoma and the region. I have every confidence that he will continue the success that we have enjoyed academically and competitively in volleyball." In 2017, the Stars won both the Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships for the second consecutive year. Oklahoma City (23-7) advanced to the national tournament for the third time while collecting its fourth consecutive 20-win season. OCU's conference winning streak reached 23 consecutive matches. OCU has posted 23 victories per season with a .643 winning percentage since reviving its program in 2006. Restrepo becomes the Stars' fifth coach in that time, taking over for Jason Muñoz. "I'm grateful for the opportunity Mr. Jim Abbott and Oklahoma City University have given me to move into a new chapter," Restrepo said. "I'm looking forward to meeting new people, recruiting new talent and continuing the program's success. I'm very appreciative of my past 14 years with the University of Oklahoma and to Mr. Joe Castiglione." In 20 years as a head coach, Restrepo owns a 368-261 record directing East Stroudsburg (Pa.), Southern Mississippi and Oklahoma. He garnered 2006 Big 12 coach of the year, American Volleyball Coaches Association regional coach of the year and CVU.com national coach of the year in his third season at Oklahoma as well as 2003 Conference USA coach of the year in his final year at Southern Mississippi. Restrepo led Oklahoma to six NCAA Tournament appearances in a row and five consecutive 20-win seasons from 2009-14, including Sweet 16 national-tournament berths in 2006 and 2010. Restrepo turned around a program that had a combined 27 wins in the four years prior to his arrival. At OU, Restrepo coached five USA national team players, 14 AVCA all-Americans, 17 all-region performers, one espnW national player of the week honoree and three AVCA national player of the week award winners. On the conference level, Restrepo mentored 29 all-Big 12 selections, eight league all-freshman choices, and six yearly Big 12 award winners. Off the floor, Restrepo's student-athletes took 80 academic all-Big 12 nods, 13 College Sports Information Directors' academic all-district distinction and three CoSIDA academic all-American accolades.

Congrats to Santiago! Very happy that he found an opportunity that is going to keep him close to his heart! It lets his wife stay where she is (partner in a law firm) and his son stay in high school. He's a freshman this year and was manager for a team that lost the state HS championship in October that has really good coaches to learn from. I assume the son will keep playing club. His team made it to Club Division gold bracket at Boys Nationals last year with Santi coaching.

Does Portland call Jim Moore? I don’t think he comes highly recommended. Are they in a position to care about that kind of thing?

Does Portland call Jim Moore? Or they bring a real coach to Portland for once, and call Mick Haley.
