Memo #1Hello, boys and girls!
Our membership is complete. I am taking on no new members. Accordingly, let’s get to work.
By the way, for all future memos where homework is assigned, announcements are made, or advance notices of upcoming events are given, I will simply tag you as follows:
808empath azvb bigfan Boof1224 bprtbone eastcoastopp eazy Floyd R. Turbo garnet04 huskervolleyball mcman27 @madden54
mikegarrison naujack85 NittanyLions oldmanred redcard @ruffda
ToddyJ trainermch txnut volleykenzie vup WahineFan44 williams So, here are my expectations:
1. You should be here often enough and read threads so that you can make an informed decision on who the best posters are in 2020. If you are not here often enough, perhaps you shouldn’t be on this committee. When I tag you, you should all receive a tagged notification. There should be no excuses like “I didn’t get your notification.” That’s impossible.
2. I won’t give you assignments and such as I want this to be a “fun” diversion for you. Nothing sucks the life out of an activity than the feeling of obligation, so I won’t demand any burdensome thing. You should be here because you want to be here.
3. I reserve the right to kick anyone off this committee. I will only do this if you're misbehaving, you're the owner of multiple accounts (at least two of which are members of this committee), and I suspect you’re not here often enough. There are ways for me to tell. For example, if I hold a vote of certain propositions, it doesn’t take much to vote “YES” or “NO.” If you’re not even voting, well that tells me you don’t give a rat’s arse. So, at that point, I’ll delete your name from this committee.
4. Our sole job is to determine who the best posters are in 2020. So, you should be reading a lot of threads and keeping a personal list of who you think are the best posters. I’m not going to tell you how to do this. You’re an adult. With that said, anything you can do to help other members of the committee and shine some light on some stellar (but lesser known) posters, please do so.
5. I’m keeping a list of all service providers on page 1. If you notice any service providers that I haven’t noticed, please let me know so that I can add them to the list.
6. We have three propositions coming up. They are listed on p. 1. They are Propositions 1A, 1B, and 1C. We will take a vote on these on March 1-8. You vote by either posting your vote on this thread or PM’ing me. This memo serves as your two-week notice as the votes will be tabulated beginning March 1. The propositions are:
1A: Shall we make all of your voting ballots on propositions public? If you vote “YES,” I will post your voting ballots on this thread for all to see. If you vote “NO,” your voting ballot will remain private and confidential.
1B: Shall we make all of your voting ballots on the All-VolleyTalk Awards nominees public to the entire VT community? If you vote “YES,” I will post your voting ballots (i.e., who you voted for and how many points you gave them) on this thread for all to see. If you vote “NO,” your voting ballot will remain private and confidential.
1C: Shall we make all of your voting ballots on the All-VolleyTalk Awards nominees public to anyone in the All-VT committee? If you vote “YES,” I will provide all voting ballots (i.e., who you voted for and how many points you gave them) to any committee member requesting it. If you vote “NO,” your voting ballot will remain private and confidential.
I will elaborate on the PROs and CONs in a following post.
7. Anyone can propose a proposition to change various elements of this committee including rules and award structure. Whatever changes you want, just make a proposition and I'll advance it if I think it has merit. Also, it has to make sense. For example, you can't make a proposition "Shall we disband this committee and let the entire VT community vote for All-VolleyTalk?" I won't even recognize such absurdity.
I realize that if you don’t vote, it is equivalent to a “NO” vote as it’s not a “YES” vote. However, in this committee, you MUST vote, if only for me to determine whether you’re here or not.
Thank you for your time,
Wolfgang
