I suspect that they are working on where Deberg contacts the ball. She doesn't reach like she could. It is something that should be a relatively easy fix. She also needs to work on footwork and transition, also something that is fixable during the spring. I'm sure she will be working on high hands. After years of being able to both his over a block and down, hitting against the kinds of blockers she sees in college is going to require an adjustment that some make quicker than others. As an aside, she seems taller than Cooney, although both are listed at 6'4".

This season was amazing. Great to see the FIGHT returned to the FIGHTING Illini. Thanks you Coach Tamas. Next year will be one to remember. All the competition in the gym is only going to push this team to greater heights. I know there has been talk of some possible freshman OH transfers. Let's see what plays out.
Do we still have Korte's scholarship open for a possible OH transfer in?

It would seem that the chemistry is so good with these players as a team, it would be unfortunate to have that change in any way. However, the future setter and perhaps a DS that may see time in the back court will be arriving as freshmen. For next year's team to surpass what was accomplished this season, Illinois might need an elite outside hitter transferring in from somewhere. If that does not happen, my sense is that Coach Tamas is happy with his current players. Another year of working his coaching magic with his current group of players may yield further achievements.
My belief is that most coaches deeply believe that there is always another level that they can coach their current players to reach. Some of us (as merely fans) do not see it the same way. As much as I love Coach Tamas and the current coaching staff, the overachieving they definitely accomplished this season may be sorely tested next year. Go Illini!

I think they should redshirt Diana Brown next year, only use her in case of emergency. Let Bruder be the back up or just let Poulter play the whole time

What is Bruder's injury? She doesn't appear to be in any shape to play any time soon.

Jordan and Ali both 3rd Team All-Americans. Jordan should have been second team. Ali's numbers slipped in the later half of the season otherwise she would have been 2nd team too.

Has Diana Brown mentioned anything of taking a redshirt year under Poulter’s wing? If I remember correctly, I feel like I heard really good things about her. Brown and family are open that Diana will redshirt next season. Not being rude but Diana is not B1G ready for next season. She's got a lot of learning to do next year for her 2019 season.

Going into 2017, I thought Kuyava-DeBerg was going to have a big debut year. She's a very similar player to Loberg @ Wisconsin. What was her story this year? I too thought Deberg would have played a bigger role. She was the 15th recruit out of HS which I thought was high but she seemed like she could possible play right away. Her quickness and her vertical need a lot of work. Right now she's high error on OOS and is hitting low and cross court a lot. Need to change up her range.

Watching Penn State and Nebraska playing in the national semifinal, dreaming of Illinois returning to the Final Four in 2018. It could happen. The pieces are there. Are the players ready to take it to another level? Can Tamas create a championship culture? Go Illini!
