How will Mick Haley play co-op with me if he's going to be so busy with the lawsuit? I can't believe he's so selfish.

They struggled in 2016, were abysmal in 2014. I am not sure only 2017 counts. You conveniently left out 2015 when he also was in position to win the regional final. 3 or 4 points away from 2 final fours in 3 years. That sounds much different from what you said. I didn’t conveniently leave it out. Everyone know about losing the 13-9 lead in the 5th. And then losing Johnson to academic issues. Also lost in the regional final in 2013 after being up 2-0 and having a match point. Then lost Nwanebu. 3 disappointing elite 8 losses in 5 seasons and 2 early exits. I am not saying I would fire him personally, but the powers that be must not consider that good enough.

For all of the success in 2015 - 33 wins, a 1 seed - losing to a 9 seed in the regional final was not well received in Heritage Hall.

Chris Tamas or Dan Fisher Tamas makes 300K/year. USC would need to pay him 500K for COLA.

USC has been to 2 regional finals in the last 3 years while Rose has only been to 1. For the third year in a row Rose hasn't beaten a single seeded team. This year as the 1 seed he couldn't even beat the 5 seed. At least USC had match point on the 2 seed. You have to ask Swann that.

USC will pay out the a$$ for how they handled this. Finished 2nd in the PAC 12 and a few points from the Final Four. Unless their was major player issues the AD will be hammered in court. I hope Mick makes a huge statement with this to all AD’s around the country. These over inflated ego’s in the AD world need to be knocked down several notches. You're stupid. How so wise one....

At any rate, I'm just relaying what the sentiment was within the athletic department at the time.

A terrible decision. Really overperforming during the season and a set away from the Final Four and canned. Thought they would give him til Laniers Senior year. It's all in bad taste in my opinion.

USC had a pretty successful season. 2nd in the Pac and on the brink off the final four. Do ADs really expect USC to be in the final four or championship match almost every year? That's unrealistic for any team. They struggled in 2016, were abysmal in 2014. I am not sure only 2017 counts. Mick has consistently had USC in a top position given their personnel. 2015, 2013, 2012 elite 8 2010 & 2011 Final Four 2007 Final Four Take his "down years" 2014 - Injuries and even with a crippled team with horrible hands , they were up 1st set and had a late lead in the second set AT North Carolina. They lost two deuce sets, otherwise they could have swept UNC. 2016 - USC loses Bricio. He has to recover and reform his team with many new faces and a different offensive pace. Then, in the NCAA tournament Missing starting OH2 and MB, USC pushes Hawaii to 5 in the NCAA's. 15-13 in the 5th with a clearly weak USC team playing Sarah Freaking Livingston at OH. And i really really liked Sarah - amazing person. But no business as a PAC OH particularly in the NCAA's. Mick never missed the NCAA's with USC. He was one of the very very few to beat Stanford at Maples in the last few years (And did it twice) He turned Jupiter into a NPOY and while she was a baller - she had a lot of rawness and really needed to be developed. Look at how Bricio is killing it internationally - she was a stud too arriving at USC but constantly got better. This year, Reni rapidly improved. Garrick did some better things as the year went on. Abercrombie peaked at the perfect time. She was hitting all parts of the court effectively. Lanier is getting better all around

He's telegraphing that himself by publicly stating that he's had a fractious relationship with his boss for several years. Moreover, there's no outrage among the players, mainly relief or joy.

There are always so many behind the scenes reasons for these decisions. Having been an assistant at USC under JMac, I can tell you that the expectations are very high. I remember then AD, Hesiman winner Mike Garrett, walking into our office in the middle of a mediocre 92 season,(us having won the NCAA in 90 and finished 2nd in 91) and asking Jim why we were struggling. Jim was a bit shocked, but I was like “What do you expect? This is USC.” I thought Garrett not only had every right to grill us but it was good to have high expectations.
Mick Haley by his own admission had an adversarial relationship with his boss. And you are SURPRISED your contract does not get renewed?
And as an attorney, I guess you don’t have much cause when your contract doesn’t get renewed. There is not only no obligation to renew a contract, but California is a right to work stare and employees can be fired without cause. So really Mick has no case here. Claim age discrimination all you want. But you need to prove that. Good luck.
I am not an AD apologist. But managing up is a critical skill in any organization.

I first thought is when you have a contract and its over...its over. Nothing more is owed. I do think its sad that Coach Haley could not just announce he is retiring. However if he was given the opportunity well then.
