I wonder if Hammons โ and perhaps Soko, too โ have benefitted from the help of a sports psychologist. Hammons' serve receive has improved a lot in the past two weeks with only an occasional bad pass, which everyone will have now and then. The mental fluster that she seemed to suffer earlier is the season when she was being targeted is gone, though it could be a matter of the competition being weaker. Soko's hitting is getting some consistency too.
I'm a big believer in sports psychology. A lot of players in many sports have the physical abilities but space out mentally. Fixing that can do a world of good.

Mary's so classy. I love when she praises players on the other team. Couldn't watch live, but I just finished the replay. Go Gators And *ahem* where's that guy who was hating on Thayer's performance a week ago?

I am just so impressed by Carlton. We wouldn't be a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 caliber team without her on the court this year.
Not to look too far ahead, but wouldn't it be wonderful if she could play 6 rotations next year? If we don't get a setter to transfer in, that will have to be the plan if we hope to keep the 6-2 intact with our small army of players.
With Hammons and Gregory playing their third year next to each other and Hall, Fischer and Cerame in their 2nd, I think we'd have the court defense to support her if she set in the back row.
6-2 S- Monserez/Carlton RS- Carlton/Warner or Soko OH- Hall/Hammons MB- Kramer/King L-Gregory
We'd have three 6-rotation players and plenty of room to use the bench of Dooley, Greer, Warner/Soko and the 4 DSs.

What a tremendous surprise the transfer Holly Carlton was for Mary Wise and the Gators! Her multi-dimensional skillset just gets better every match. She will be very exciting to watch as this team grows together. Very exciting time for Gators Volleyball.

I typically have no problem with Lyle and Hazelwood commentating for the SEC (with the exceptation that Hazelwood repeats herself when she runs out of things to say), but what was said last night was just flat out wrong. Florida has ZERO chance of being a Top 4 seed this year. Throwing out percentages like 25 and 35 would be great if they were true. What they probably meant was the likelihood that Florida would be RANKED in the top 4 by the end of the conference season; and if they don't take any losses and teams continue to lose in front of them, (knowing the AVCA) yes they could be ranked 4th or higher at that point.

She will be very exciting to watch as this team grows together. Very exciting time for Gators Volleyball. Carlton is actually a good defensive player. She had four triple doubles and was 1 dig away from a quadruple double last year at UNC. She was 3rd in digs with 218, right behind Taylor Leath. She is also a really good beach player which transfers well to playing good defense. Having her on the court for 6 rotations would also be good for how calm and steady she plays.
