How good are the teams at this tournament? Who are all the favorites? It’s the best tournament outside of GJNC.

Do coaches really care that much about their 18’s recruits in a random tournament? Meh.... I’d bet they’d be more concerned they’d be injured than whether or not their club team wins at triple crown. I think the 18’s play is an after thought for college coaches, a perk. They are there for the uncommitted 14’s, 15’s, and 16’s. If the triple crown had those three age groups and 17’s and 18’s in a different city, I bet that you wouldn’t see too many coaches at the 17’s and 18’s The second strongest field after GJNC is "meh"? I guess they are smoking the good stuff over the counter these days up in husky land? No, college coaches wouldn't travel like this for 17s and 18s. That was the point. That's what makes it special, because they ARE all there. Coaches don't care? Because of the split championship, the NIT is a huge differentiator for the (unfortunately mythical) national championship. Basically, any coach who thinks it's meh shouldn't be coaching 18s, and any player who thinks it's meh should be enrolled for spring quarter and not playing 18s. Kids just can’t randomly graduate early and start college in spring. It takes a lot of planning and work ahead of time to do that. My daughters team is not going because it is a waste of time and money for 18s IMO, especially when all but 2 on the team are committed.

Wouldn't that reasoning of wasting time at NIT be the same for any other tournament, including Nationals? If they're looking to develop/condition their 18yo daughters in preparation for college, then they should be looking for the best competition around, and NIT is it this time of year.

There is a middle ground. Taking your foot off the gas a little bit for 18s can often make sense. How many clubs really have a shot at a Triple Crown or Nationals (a few dozen)? You have just worked really hard for many years to get the chance to play in college and the 4 hardest are still ahead. If your 18s season you stay in shape, get your reps, and play decent/good competition that can bring the stress level down significantly for a few months.
That said I am looking forward to watching some good matches. I am reading "reseed" in the schedule as "flip flop teams to prevent repeat matchups as best we can"?

While I'm SHOCKED that a team that has Starr Williams, the younger Iosia, and Miner didn't win a set in pool play, I'm not shocked that Coast worked them. Attention is usually on Endsley, and she is good, but that's just a high quality 16's team, very well rounded, decent setting in transition for a 16's team too. Fingers crossed for a Coast/TAV showdown in what I think would be the semi's? TAV black has athletes for DAYS!!!! both Smiths, Ndaiye, Williams...lord Jesus. they just need to find a better back row and this team would be unstoppable. Now, to which Texas team at the next level have I heard that before .

Great 3 set battle between Coast and Munciana in the 16's. Ongoing.
Edit: Coast wins it.

18s Final Four: Munciana v Aspire Legacy v I-da-hooooooooooo Munciana and Idaho have a similar point ratio, but it'll be difficult to pick against Munciana to take the title. That Samurai squad is so good in every facet of the game.

That Samurai squad is so good in every facet of the game. Samurai's combination of physicality and ball control is impressive, but Aspire took them to 17-15 in the third in Pool Play, so the semi should be a really good match.

She looked decent when she played, but the other middle got a lot more playing time. I think it was Leyla Blackwell?
