A trifecta: Sailin' Shoes, HeyJulia, Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley - on Robert Palmer's Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley (1974) Tastes vary. I'm not much of a fan of Robert Palmer. (Side note: it's starting to feel more and more personal to me these days when I read about people who died of heart attacks or strokes or cancer or whatever in their early 50s. Now that I'm in my early 50s, I mean.)

Not looking for musical nirvana or the defining musical moment, but just a pop song that grabs your attention for that few minutes of happiness. It's got a good beat and you can dance to it would suffice. In no particular order. 867-5309 Tommy Tutone Mary Anne Marshall Crenshaw Billy Jean Michael Jackson Mary's Prayer Danny Wilson Girl In Trouble Romeo Void All About That Bass Megan Trainor Kiss on My List Hall and Oates You're So Vain Carly Simon September Earth Wind, and Fire Doctor My Eyes Jackson Brown Only the Lonely Roy Orbison Start Me Up Rolling Stones Let it Be Beatles God Only Knows The Beach Boys Dear God XTC XTC and Marshall Crenshaw are some inspired choices!

Lennon brought in Strawberry Fields Forever played it for his fellow band members and George Martin who were all blown away. McCartney was inspired by Lennon's song to write this wonderful beautiful song.

I think his high octane life style may have contributed to his heart attack at 54(?).

ITT i learn that i have a different definition of 'pop song' than virtually every member of VT One person's pop in another's poop? LOL. it's not that i dislike the songs people are listing; it's just that i would never think to characterize songs from the beatles, for example, as pop songs.
