Since I am voicing my opinion on the rankings I figured I should at least give a representation of my opinions, so others can dispute mine as much as I dispute theirs.
1. Springfield- wish losing two sets to d3 teams this year was enough to drop them in the rankings, but it is not 2. Stevens- great program, believe their loss to Kean was a fluke and will prove themselves to be the best team in d3 this year 3. Dominican- no losses in d3 yet and with the movement of other top teams opens up space for a jump in the rankings 4. Stevenson- a lot of ranked wins, the only loss coming to Stevens 5. Benedictine- Very impressive win against Carthage and other ranked teams, the only loss being Stevenson 6. New Paltz- definitely better than this ranking, but after losing to Hunter cannot put them higher, put that loss more on coaching than team skill which is why they are not lower 7. Kean- most athletic team in d3 vball (in my opinion), they are extremely inconsistent but have the firepower to beat anyone 8. Endicott- Good win against Kean, but without other good wins cannot put them higher 9. North Central- Impressive wins, but with 5 losses hard to put them higher 10. Carthage- one would think one loss would not drop a team so far, but I believe the reasoning for Carthage being ranked so high in the beginning is their name, people know it so people vote it, they did sweep LBC but without Nate Miller, and every other ranked team they beat has since dropped out of the rankings 11. Southern Virginia- Good win against Elms, an impressive loss against Stevenson 12. Juniata- Played a very tough match against Kean, have some important matchups coming up that will truly determine where they sit in d3 13. LBC- So much riding on one player that they cannot even beat Lakeland without Nate Miller in the lineup 14. SJC LI- played competitively with Springfield and have kept the same starting lineup for all three years, NYU has since dropped out of the rankings but still should count as an impressive win, will be a tough matchup for anyone in the tournament 15. Vassar- Played both Springfield and New Paltz competitively, win against NYU still impressive and credit loss to Arcadia to the high turnover they had from last year to this year, was the first matchup of the year and needed more time to get assimilated

Kean gets a lot of #$@% but this was a Monday match with absolutely nothing on the line. We could ask why is Division I NJIT playing so may Division III schools. Solid teams play with pride and full effort no matter what day of the week it is and regardless of what's on the line. Apparently Kean can only get hype enough to "try full out" when there is enough drama going on within their team to put a chip on all their shoulders. That is a hard motivational strategy to sustain for an entire season.

Philip Peterman is smoking crack up the wazoo with his newest rankings. Fontbonne at #12 is the hottest take of the week Took a look at Fontbonne's schedule. Gadzooks. That might be the easiest schedule in the country. Also on Peterman's hot take list is Loras, who plays the only two notable teams that Fontbonne plays - North Central and Carthage. Other nominees for the hot take police squad - Katie LaClaire (Kean at #2, ignoring all of their losses to teams below them), and Paul Leon (who completed his first poll vote of the year this week! Go Slugs!)

That is a hard motivational strategy to sustain for an entire season. Maybe Kean just isn't used to playing against so many high-level opponents. As they were previously in Skyline Conference which is disgraced and last season were on the weaker side of the CVC only playing Marymount, SVU, and Juniata once during the regular season. It seems that have already played more high-level opponents this season than they have in the last 3 years. Some teams just aren't used to having to play all out in every game and coming from the Skyline Conference why would they

Philip Peterman is smoking crack up the wazoo with his newest rankings. Fontbonne at #12 is the hottest take of the week Seems like Philip Peterman's only standard for ranking teams in the top 15 is if they would or have swept his Penn State Altoona team. It is too bad there are only 15 spots to vote for otherwise he would have over half of d3 volleyball ranked.

If there was a way to create a "media" D3 poll that would be super fun. Obviously can't just open up a poll due to trolling. Maybe established volleytalkers who have consistently not been trolls throughout the years (lol)?

To be honest. the coaches just need to commit and take the time to put together a proper poll. It takes me about 45-60 minutes on Monday's to sort out my rankings. Not enough coaches are making a similar commitment.

Not enough coaches are making a similar commitment. The selection of the coaches who vote should also be considered more carefully. Nothing against Katie LaClaire, but she barely even knows volleyball. Last year at Suny Poly their assistant coach did all the coaching, so I don't believe that she should even be a poll voter.

NYU played very well against Stevens. Just couldn't find a way to finish when they were up. 25-19, 16-25, 28-26, 30-28. Really fun game to watch.
