Ironically, pretty sure as previously said, you can't collapse as class action suit by getting 100 opt outs. More ironically, if/when a judgment is awarded, the evil Mullens will get a bigger share. I was curious about this same thing, but couldn't find an answer. Hypothetically, if EVERYONE were to opt out and Mullen won the suit, you're saying she would be paid everyone's club fees from those five years?? Doesn't seem logical to me, but I can't find the information anywhere online to the contrary. I just assumed that a total award (if he lost) would be based on the number of people in the class x number of years they played at the club x $ amount of club fees. Why would they include money in an award for people that are not even suing him? Where did you get your info that says Mullen would get everyone's payout (assuming you are not an attorney)?

Child molestation is an awfully inflammatory term to describe someone who had never been convicted of a crime and from all reports from those around the girls and the man in question would argue they were having a (be it a warped or inappropriate) relationship with.
Which is not something that i have ever excused. Ever. Not once. And I will not excuse it now. Having said that I know plenty of women in my generation that had affairs with men in their late 20’s and early 30’s when they were in their late teens.
They look back and kind of laugh that “it would never be ok now”.
Maybe it shouldn’t have been ok then. IDK. It is what it is.
Child molestation is broadly defined in many areas of sex with a child UNDER the age of 16. So while it sounds but picky of me to point that out, YET AGAIN, that age is mentioned time and time again on site after site discussing the topic. As someone said before: “facts”.
I would also like to remind you all that (whatever the situation was with the statute of limitations) the man was not convicted. Also we are discussing a lot of revised variations of stories through the years.
And I could not agree more with that statement ^^ made re: Mullen. Shame on her. I wonder what her children think of this whole thing. “A” benefited from Rick’s coaching. “A” rec’d a scholarship from a prestigious east coast school. Why can no other girl benefit from the same training?
You can’t even get mad at me for raising that point when we all know Mullen AND the media when they first reported this story botched (on purpose very likely) the dates and trips mentioned to make Rick seem like a terrible human being so the China (or was it Japan?! I forget) trip coincided with Nr Mullen’s death. THAT WASNT EVEN THE CASE. It was JVAs in Louisville. That part of the “original” story and that alone has the SPRI people beside themselves.
So excuse us for being outraged and the half truths and lies. Mullen KNEW who Rick Butler was and is before she sent “A” to SPRI she was a Fusion parent FFS.
And to go back and forth with the club hopping. Spare me this fake news story that she didn’t know. Then to post on the Windy City Power League Page “thank you to all the club directors that are making this happen” re: their burgeoning participation in that league. Gag me with a spoon. SERIOUSLY.
Gee I wonder why all the SPRIBOTS are pissed off.

You say you don't defend rick, but you cite the, "it was a different time..." defense. He has been banned by all governing bodies of the sport he loves. But he won't leave.

Good to know by textbook definition old RB was not a “child molester.” Give me a break. He raped young girls. Will the defense of this monster ever end?

I wonder who asked the players to ask their parents to make sure they opt out of the lawsuit? I wonder WHY you ass**ume someone would have to ask them to do anything. All their parents got letters. I know I did as well as an email. What makes you believe that we parents, both former and the current ones, won't want to opt out? I know at least five families that are opting out, including myself that's six. NO ONE had to ask or tell me to. NO ONE had to ask or tell the other parents in our old group text to. We just are. Any chance of getting an apology for the ass**ume comment? Have a great weekend!

She has been reported -- for that unnecessary, specific taunt -- and for other crass, classless, clueless, imbecilic, moronic, plus simply evil attacks upon SPVB "enemies".

Also we are discussing a lot of revised variations of stories through the years. Color me unimpressed with your hollow "On the other hand" BS. If you want to pretend that 15 v 16 doesn't matter just read the Love Letters to a room full of 15s and 16s and see if it affects one group more than the other. Hint: none of that stuff was right AT ALL, regardless of age, and the world is revolted. You want to substitute minor for child then go ahead, but now you're defending statutory rape and relationships of abuse between mentors and mentees and that's just as crappy. Maybe worse if you actually think that it's OK. And acknowledging the poor Statute of Limitations situation should pretty much preclude using it as a standard for RB's innocence. I haven't heard anyone state that he wouldn't be arrested immediately under different SoL rules, so that might not be a good rock to hide under for refuge. "He got away with it, too bad there's nothing anyone can do. <shrug>" That creep has to go, and people would actually be saving the club a lot of unnecessary damage if they stopped defending him and prolonging this siege. Calling for his removal from within the walls would bring about a change and a move forward a lot sooner. Please stop making excuses for this abuser.
