Poulter isn't good enough for that to be realistic. Sarcasm or are you smoking crack? If we get Bruna cleared watch out! Not sarcasm. Poulter hasn’t shown an ability to win when she shouldn’t. She came out on the right side of a couple close matches last December, but until there’s an indication that she can do that again, I’m not putting the Illini anywhere near the top ten. At some point, she’s going to have to be more than “an elite physical specimen” or “an incredibly athletic setter.” She needs to be a winner.

Seriously, you should have left everyone thinking it was clever sarcasm. Now it's clear from your explanation that you were indeed either smoking crack or you don't have the slightest clue how the game of volleyball is played...you know, as in won or lost by a team. In which case, your tenure on the VT Poll group should be seriously in question. I think I'll go with the opinion of the WNT coaches, Russ Rose, most knowledgeable followers of VB and my own lying eyes before listening to any more of your "deep thoughts" about Poulter.

I am not going to do a top-25. But, history shows that the one holding the trophy in December will be either Stanford, Nebraska, Penn State, USC or UCLA. So, I guess I will rank those as my top-5.

Not a bad strategy if the poll is trying to be predictive. Along those lines, I wonder how VT would vote if they had to wager a month's salary on the champion being Stanford or Nebraska vs. the field?

I'd have a very hard time picking the field in that scenario

Again if that is true I can guarantee that will be a problem if Lexi does not pass at a BIG level. The ball does not lie, everyone can see it. Well she did come from Texas.

If that’s true, Cook promised Sun to stick with her no matter what then I question that. How does that put the team first? Assuming there are limits to all development projects, as far as I know, that's what he promised her in order to land her at Nebraska. Come on now, if she did not go to Nebraska only Penn St or Stanford would have been her other choices....................superstar talent who wants to play on a great team.

I stopped reading after Florida @ 3. Explain? I can’t. In retrospect I’m not sure what I was thinking there. Something about Kramer and Hammond and Hall and Warner. But they have too many new people. If I had a do-over I’d move them down a few spots. Below Minnesota and Texas, for sure. Your gut instinct is the way to go. I support your gut.

If I remember correctly, I though Cook promised to let her develop no matter what. If so, Nebraska fans may be in for a long season if she struggles. If that’s true, Cook promised Sun to stick with her no matter what then I question that. How does that put the team first? Cook said in press conference today that he expects Jazz Sweet to play all 6 rotations along with Foecke so I am guessing Sun will be subbed out for backrow unless can handle it That sounds about right -- Cook may have promised to give her some passing flexibility, e.g., against weak opponents/big lead, but he will pull her when Sir Madame Shank-A-Lot shows up.

Doesn't matter how perfect your sets are if you don't have the hitters to terminate. We upgraded at the second MB position and 6 rotation pro OH in Bruna will be a huge upgrade at one of our pins. Once she's cleared , we can revisit this convo.

I would argue Team USA disagrees with you about Jordyn being a winner since they selected her to the Pan Am Cup squad, the ONLY collegian on a team of pros.

Won't Cook just use a DS if Sun gets too shank happy? So it really won't be that big of a problem for Nebraska. The freshman setter on the other hand... that could take awhile to overcome. Not that Hames isn't talented or can't do the job, but it's very difficult for a freshman to step in and run an offense right away.
If I remember correctly, I though Cook promised to let her develop no matter what.
If so, Nebraska fans may be in for a long season if she struggles.
Cook never promised to let her develop on the court during a game if she is struggling. Even when Kadie Rolfzen was a sophomore and junior he would jerk her if she wasn't passing adequately. There was one PSU game where he benched her the rest of the entire game. No chance NEB is in for a long season if she struggles in back row. Megan Miller is a phenomenal get for the Huskers in the back row and they just pulled in an international back row player. Sweet is slotted to go 6 rotations. That gives you Foecke and Sweet both doing that. How many back row players do you think they need? Maloney hasn't left.

Why are people even ranking Washington in the top 20? They were eliminated in the second round last year (hyped then) and lost so many players to graduation. Just silly.

Pretty sure people are just presuming that Cook had to make promises about back row time to get her to transfer, inasmuch as people have been speculating that that’s one reason she left UT. I have no idea why they think a coach like Cook would do that, even for a player of Sun’s caliber. Just doesn’t compute to me.
Guess we’ll see how she does.
