Back in volleytalk after a 3-week hibernation. What did the team do while idle? UH back in action tomorrow? Practice, practice, practice. They seem fired up.

From Cindy's article:
"Hawaii leaves Tuesday for its first road trip, heading to Charlotte, N.C. The Warriors will play host Queens (2-7) Thursday and Saturday, and St. Francis (5-3) on Friday."
that's a long flight!

Biggest difference from a year ago is Rado's consistency imo. If he can stay that way most of the season, it opens up for UH offensively.
He has worked so hard in the off season and it is showing.

Great chance for our subs to see court time, St Francis of the EIVA beat Ohio State last week so that might be a good match. Happy that Gage won DPOW, he played lights out versus Stanford

12 players travelled to Charlotte. Joe Worsley, Gage Worsley, Stijn van Tilburg, Rado Parapunov, Patrick Gasman, Dalton Solbrig, Colton Cowell, Brett Rosenmeier, James Anastassiades, Jakob Thelle, Max Rosenfeld, Filip Humler.
who got left behind? Are they shouldering their expenses since certain players are on half scholarships, the rest not on scholarships.

Who is the back up libero/DS if Shepard didn’t go?

who is the back up L/DS to Gage? My guess is if needed they can use Brett. What are the rules regarding Liberos? Do they need to be declared and properly attired at the start of the match?

Last resort, they could use Joe Worsley as a libero and let Jakob Thelle set.
Otherwise, I think Rosey can play libero. They could also let Rosey hit and put Cowell at libero.
I think UH should be ok. Lots of versatile athletes on the team that could move positions and still be pretty solid.

And I think the rest stays due to costs perhaps.

Thelle is being groomed as the next setter.
