Hawaii will be playing an away tournament in late March at BYU with Princeton and McKendree. It's nice they are traveling since they are hosting a tournament + some two-home match series. They're only hosting one tournament next season? In terms of conference play they will only be hosting UCSB and CSUN. At least they will host the conference tournament next season. What are the chances of the Big West agreeing to change the men's travel arrangement to how the women do it (one at home one away)? Slim to none. The AD's have much bigger budgets for their women's programs than the men's. They would have a hard time justifying spending that much money to travel for one match.

It’s too bad Wade is butt-soar about Mautatia and Rattray leaving that he told UCLA not to come to UH this year. That’s the highlight match of the year !!!

It’s too bad Wade is butt-soar about Mautatia and Rattray leaving that he told UCLA not to come to UH this year. That’s the highlight match of the year !!! If you want to keep promoting the story that Wade was so upset because two of his bench players decided to leave the program for the opportunity to find a team where they could expect more playing time, eventually ending up at Ucla, that he refuses to play them, well that's your choice. Really a stretch though. You identified yourself as a friend of the players on another thread so it seems you are also expressing their frustration. Another perspective on this is that the coaches, players and Hawaii fans did not view this as the devastating loss that you and the departing players believe it to be. But they were nice players coming off the bench and were popular with fans. Based on your comments here and on another thread about how upset they are and the supposed wrath of their former coaches, perhaps there is an inflated sense of self importance in play here their part. If they end up being in the starting line up and significant contributors to the Ucla team, that's great, they made the right decision. That was probably not in the cards if they stayed at Hawaii, considering the returnees and new recruits. I know I speak for many Hawaii fans who truly wish them success at their new home. As for " match of the year" , well it wasn't last year when Ucla came to Honolulu, Long Beach State was , and fingers crossed it will be again this year when the Big West tournament is played at the SSC. Time to put this subject to rest and just focus on who you are playing and not who you aren't.

What are the chances of the Big West agreeing to change the men's travel arragement to how the women do it (one at home one away)? With the little amount of teams in the Big West, it would be cheaper just to do two home-or-away series. As for the upcoming schedule, I only know for sure that the Outrigger will have NJIT, Concordia, and USC. Stanford and Pepperdine will each be coming for two-game series. Off the Block posted about one school coming for a two-game series, it was a smaller east coast school I believe, can't remember which one. And as mentioned, Hawaii will be at BYU for that tournament, and I know they will have a non-conference match at Concordia as well. Edit: Pepperdine, Ball State, and King will be playing a tournament in Hawaii

We’re a diehard warrior fans but We’ve given up on ncaa men’s volleyball after the ncaa selection fiasco last year. We have no plans to follow it this year or in the future or financially contribute for the benefit of the sports. Giive us reason/s why we should have a change of heart:)

Why are you punishing the team for something they had no control over? There are corruption and bad people in the NCAA too but the way to handle that is to point out the bad guys and find ways to make sure they are not in any position of power again. UH was the victim in that scenario. Why are you punishing UH by withholding your support for them? I hope more fans jump on the bandwagon and support this team. I think we will be better. We will have more depth at middle, two talented new setter(one played for the Norway national team and is 6-6) and an 6-7 OH/OPP who I believe is also a member of his country’s national team. We will have depth at all positions and I can’t wait for them to begin their season.

were the warriors at last nights match too? Didn’t watch the first set of the match for we were late coming back from the strip. Plus I thought it was going to be an easy match in favor of Hawaii but I was wrong.

NJIT, Concordia, and USC
Pepperdine, Ball State, and King
stanford 2x
@concordia, tourney @byu with Princeton and McKendree
so this leaves possibly 4 more OOC matches. I hope its two more away matches at least because this schedule is very weak IMO. a midwest trip to OSU,Loyola or Lewis would be nice with the over-reliance of away matches in picking at-large teams.

Even if its against a bunch of lower-level opponents our home record should be much better but still have to find 2 more OOC away matches because 2 @ concordia and Byu isn't enough.

The UH hasn't posted the men's VB schedule yet, but here is our OOC schedule gleaned from other team's websites:
Jan 11 vs Concordia @ Hawaii Jan 12 vs USC @ Hawaii Feb 1 vs Stanford @ Hawaii Feb 3 vs Stanford @ Hawaii Feb 15 vs Lincoln Memorial University @ Hawaii Feb 17 vs Lincoln Memorial University @ Hawaii Mar 7 vs King @ Hawaii Mar 8 vs Ball State @ Hawaii Mar 9 vs Pepperdine @ Hawaii Mar 21 vs McKendree or BYU @ BYU* Mar 22 vs Princeton @ BYU Mar 23 vs McKendree or BYU @ BYU* * BYU hasn't posted its schedule yet, but got dates from Princeton's schedule. Big West hasn't yet posted its 2019 schedule. Many pukas to fill, maybe we can schedule 2 more MIVA (Loyola, Ohio State)and 2 EIVA (Penn State, George Mason) teams.

NJIT is also in the first tournament which Hawaii opens with on Jan 10th. They face McKendree on 21st and the match with BYU is the closer. Just saw that Hawaii will travel to North Carolina and play Queen's University on Feb. 7 & 9. They are in their second year of their program.
