For the sake of some last bit of speculations before next Friday...
What are your Top 3 SPECIFIC things you want answered as the season goes on?
I’m really itching to find out
1. Who besides Rasmussen will be putting up double digit kills regularly the majority of games?
2. Who takes over in the end for the Libero position?
3. Where does Akana see the most playing time? (I feel like she’s been the most excited Wahine to just be there and if she gets a hang of the pins sooner than later, I see her pushing anyone else in the gym at OH or OPP

My three questions:
1. Will Riley Wagoner ever see the court as an OH, especially with Rasmussen, Van Sickle, Hellvig, and potentially Akana ahead of her and the arrival of the rumored 6’3” OH from Europe next season?
2. Is Van Sickle a serious contender for OH2 or is the team better off with her at DS?
3. What is Angelica Ljungqvist’s plans re. UH for the next few years? Will she continue in her assistant role, move up as an Associate Head Coach, or move back to Sweden to resume her legal career? (I’m always worried there’ll be an announcement one day that she won’t return.)

According to Cindy on the possible line-up:
"I honestly don’t know. The White went without a libero in final set and won 25-15. They are considering that option where they have five attackers. I would say Iosia and Rasmussen for sure. Van Sickle has a great serve. Her parents are here for a few weeks. Thought the freshmen all played well. Hellvig very polished. Wagoner very versatile, she went from libero to outside. Akana looked good but that’s going to depend on the matchups, she was at MB and OH. Westerberg gives them options at MB and OH. And Igiede very physical."
The comment on an option with five attackers sounds interesting...

The set score results were kind of meaningless. It was a scrimmage and there were a lot of players switching sides and positions. No one was tracking rotation errors. All of the freshmen at times looked impressive, but in different roles. Wagoner started as a libero and was easily the best of them in the backrow, but the other freshmen are ahead of her in the front row. Westerberg looked good enough to start at either MH or Opp. Hellvig was good enough in the backrow to start at six rotation OH2, or Opp. Akana played well at OH, Opp, and MH, and seemed to get stronger the longer they played; probably doesn't start but could easily see the court if someone gets the hook. Igiede was strong at MB, still a little raw, but way ahead of where I thought she'd be, and she is a contender to start. At setter, I don't think we will see Iosia hit at Opp this year. Just too many good hitters on this team. Iosia was serving bullets, but Choy's serve was good too. Iosia I thought had a better connection with the pins, Choy with the middles, but it might have been more a function of the passing. I think Iosia gets the nod, she's the stronger of the two in the front row, but Choy at times looked damned good. Don't know who will have the most minutes when the season is over. It's an interesting battle and the team benefits. BVB, Ross, Sibley, all looked good. BVB looked good most of the scrimmage, especially early, but maybe faded a bit toward the end. Both Ross and Sibley have improved all around. At times Ross looked liked the best option at OH2, at times BVB. Sibley is definitely in the hunt to play more time at Opp this year, and she could start. JR I thought was pacing herself a bit, nursing some taped fingers, and she got called out for it at one point when she didn't attack an out of system ball. I think the obvious OH1 still. She'll benefit from end of double days. Okino might be ahead of Hanawahine at libero, it's close. Okino is taped up, looks to be nursing a groin is my guess, but doesn't appear to slow her down. Wagoner at libero is a possibility. Gong looks ready to pick up where she left off last year. Williams looks a bit more offensive minded, and was connecting on the slide. Krug is still in a brace, but is moving good at the net and was effective. After 90 minutes, I still don't know who will start next Friday. It is very competitive. The freshman can play, and at least a couple of them could start. Three surprises from your observations: 1. Wagoner is a contender at libero, 2. Okino is ahead of Hanawahine, and 3. Ross and Sibley are contenders to start. The rest were not surprising, especially Iosia better with OHs while Choy better with middles. Iosia has never looked good setting the middles in her career at UH. At libero, I think the main battle is between Okino and Hanawahine, and I don't know who will win it. Wagoner can play the position, no doubt. She is likely on the depth chart at libero. But at least for the early part of the season, it's Hanawahine or Okino.
I admit to being a fan of Ross. She can be streaky awesome good. She can definitely put the ball down, and she can tool. Can't tell if she's turned a corner to being starter good, but judging from the Texas scrimmage and tonight, she looks more confident all around and explosive even. And, the same goes for Sibley. Sibs isn't an OTT type of hitter, but she now looks like she knows how to tool, and with authority. She can even play a little back row.

Wish they posted or noted the unofficial stats for all the players (maybe they will upload more information later). There was no mention of any of the liberos, and despite the narrative that these freshmen aren't your typical freshmen, they only put in information about Westerberg (plus it only included the number of blocks she had).

Honestly, with Iosia, it was a six attacker lineup. Hellvig, Iosia, JR, Wagoner, BVS, and I forget who the middles were but all the middles can attack the ball with muster. I saw them going to that lineup and I couldn't help smiling. The pipe was always an option.

Well, the stats were interesting as only Rasmussen, Ross, Sibley, Williams, and Van Sickle were singled out — and all played for the losing team except for Van Sickle who played for both teams. Oh, it mentioned Westerberg with 5 blocks. Funny that aside from Westerberg, no other full time player from the winning team was singled out. Not even Hellvig!

It had to be a headache trying to stat that scrimmage. It would be wise not to read too much into them. The coaches spent 99% of their energy eyeballing the players, about 1% looking at the stat sheets.

I'm hoping the Wahine will be ready to throw a lot of it out there the first weekend and surprise some teams.

Yeah, I think Europeans tend to measure accurately while we here round up an inch or so. I think even Riley looks under 6'0".
