Understand that lower mid majors you listed, have very low salary for all staff. Have an incredibly challenging operating budget, and at least a few of the schools mentioned, have less than 12 full scholarships. Understand the challenges these coaches have.

Short list: Seton Hall Providence LOL to both of these. I second that LOL. Providence has been adding 2 scholarships per year, and showing improvement commensurate with that. Seton Hall went to the tournament as an at-large in 2014 and Yaeger was Big East and AVCA Regional COY. Just last year, the Pirates recorded double-digit conference wins for just the third time ever.

I'm going to throw this one out even though I don't think he is really on the hot seat, more maybe the luke-warm seat... Joe Sagula at UNC. He went from a top 5/6 recruiting class in 2016 and one of the best seasons in school history to losing nearly every one of those recruits to transfer/medical/quitting after the 2017 season, to losing his entire staff to Tennessee (and Eve was thought to be the natural successor to Joe), to having 7 freshman and 3 transfers this year, and working on the second straight season of .500 or less volleyball after 7 straight seasons of 20+ wins. Joe has been there 28 years so he probably writes his own ticket and has plenty of rope to work with. However, another season or two trending in this direction may lead to a discussion needing to be had. UNC has to be realistic. When you start making athletes go to class and write their own papers there is gonna be a reduction in performance. Also, Football is 1-3 and got run off the field by East Carolina, and you don't dump the volleyball staff until you know how much your new football staff is going to cost you.

And Providence's recruiting has picked up. They have much better players committed.

this is the worst thread on VT. When you have comments by ADs or actual news, then it is vile and tasteless, but to date it's just rampant speculation which is much worse.

I feel like San Diego State and Portland State (1-15) are definitely hot.

I feel like San Diego State and Portland State (1-15) are definitely hot. SDSU is a mystery, but what is going on at PSU? The bottom fell out quickly. A look at their roster and they have some pretty talented freshman, a quality setter, outside, and talented libero. What is going on, I thought this coaching staff was well-respected but geez!

So "hot seat" refers to a seat that is so hot, you can't sit still? So, you stand? I'm not really getting the metaphor.
