We will have a much better understanding of where teams stand after this week's matches. If I had to choose right now...BYU, Wisky, Stanford, and 1 of Nebraska/Texas/Minnesota/Illinois...
I am only going to vote for the first 3 in this poll.

I'm surprised there's not a team from the AAC listed.

I wish this thread had waited a few more weeks until after all the preseason matches. At that point, you might be able to make some very good guesses who might show.

I wish this thread had waited a few more weeks until after all the preseason matches. At that point, you might be able to make some very good guesses who might show. I'll start another poll shortly after conference play begins to see how the rest of OOC goes and the first few games in conference. |

Idk what all the hype about Stanford is right now. Middle game is seriously lacking and the fact that McClure is performing better than the former NPOY.... Now I must say Fitz has been really good despite all the complaints about the "heat" on her hits. Yes, its very early but I wouldn't say they've been playing well

I'd say this would be the year for a team without a title to break through finally, so I'm choosing BYU, Wisconsin, Illinois and either USC or Texas.

If the final four was tomorrow: 1. I'd wonder what I've been doing with my life for the past 3 months, 2. I would be happier knowing that I'll be that much closer to the unveiling of Hawaii's 2019 team, which I'm told will be much much better (fingers crossed), 3. I'd be thinking that Horizon Zero Dawn would make a good Christmas gift to myself if PSN has it on sale again for under $15, 4. I'll be that much closer to my 40th high school reunion in 2022, 5. Most importantly, we'll have the results of the 2018 All VolleyTalk team (plus the MVP) and tomclen's ridiculous 2018 VolleyTalk Turkey of the Year "award." (My money is on VillageIdiot or SorryAssSal or whatever his name is). |

Kinda surprised USC isnt getting a little more love. They're just inconsistent, as is everyone else. Wisconsin went down to a Baylor team tonight that had lost to UCLA and San Diego. Yet that same team beat Texas. San Diego had lost to a UW team twice that nobody thought would even crack top 20. UCLA got topped last night by Cal Poly. Minny just about got swept by Oregon, who was swept by Nebraska and went 0-2 in Lincoln. Florida lost to USC, who lost to UCF, yet the Gators beat Nebraska in Lincoln. BYU is the only one standing their ground. You could make a claim for PSU but it'd be nice if they'd play someone. It's going to be a fun year...that's for sure. |
