I like to communicate with people who share interests with and that obviously includes all of you. So I thought I would be full of myself and start a thread where we talk with each other about things.
I'll start with things about me.
I live in Cascade, Iowa, which is about an hour and change from the major eastern Iowa metropolises such as Dubuque, the Quad-Cities, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and Waterloo/Cedar Falls. It is the hometown of Baseball Hall of Famer Red Faber, Creighton basketball coach Greg McDermott, San Diego Padre Colin Rea and University of Iowa broadcaster Gary Dolphin. That's quite a bit for a small town.
While Cascade isn't growing at nearly the pace which the Des Moines suburbs are it's doing okay as it's gone from 1,900 to 2,300 (or so) in recent years.
Gary Dolphin is a nice person. Sometimes he has thought he could trash talk with me when we're both at Cascade's Supper Club. I try to refrain from making him look like the little boy he is.
My favorite sports teams are the Cincinnati Bengals and Milwaukee Brewers.
Some of my interests include history, listening to podcasts, being a sports uniform fashion snob, going for long walks, reading non-fiction works, listening to old-time radio drama and comedy and relaxing with an ice cold Pepsi.
I grew up about 30 miles north of Cascade on a farm north of Earlville. it's about 15 miles to the west of the Field of Dreams movie site.
I love pro wrestling. Have for 30 years. Have met many incredible people from that genre. I love athletics and I love storytelling. Pro wrestling has both.
Speaking of that, WWE's Charlotte Flair played volleyball at Appalachian State.
Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss are neato.
I covered high school volleyball from 2005 to 2016. One thing I don't miss is being around teenage girls who are pissy because they're at a Saturday tournament on the day of the Homecoming Dance.
Iowa's going to start playing soon, so I'd better go. Hope to hear from you.
