Rettke started out as an OH right? So hitting in the pins should not be new to her.

Which college hitters OPP, MB, or OH 6' 2" and taller have the highest verticals and approach touches? Not concerned with their hitting %s or kps. Not sure about her Vertical, but at 6’ 6” I would imagine that Audrianna Fitzmorris touches pretty high. She only clears a magazine with her vertical. Guess again.

I’ve always said Rettke should be playing opposite. She could be the next Gamova. Fitzmorris should not be included in these conversations. Is there any evidence Rettke can be effective hitting high balls? Or even tempo sets on the right off 2 feet? Yes

Fitz sure had a lot of blocks for someone that "can't jump". She's even ahead of Foluke in the Stanford record books. I'm not saying she's the best blocker ever, but to say she can't jump is just ignorant.

Vertical and blocks have very little, if any correlation. So you’re saying Lutz had an impressive vertical because she had a lot of blocks?

May want to read what I said again because no where did I say Fitz had an impressive vertical. All I'm saying is for someone that was a huge part of three national titles for Stanford in TWO different front row positions, I think her jump is just fine (hence the record book comment). I'm not saying she's jumping out of the gym Hooker or Butler style, but she can put up a block JUST fine. I'm not even going to entertain the Lutz question because you've obviously already made up for your mind so carry on with your morning, keyboard crusader.

Why is this even a discussion? Seriously, why?
Neither Fitz nor Rettke are needed as an OPP for Team USA. Not when you have a very young Thompson, Plummer, a possibility in Drews (who will only be 30 in 2024), Cuttino, and by the time Paris rolls around, Samedy, Johnson, Parker (?), and more graduated college athletes that I'm missing that have potential pro time under their belts by the next Olympics.
Rettke will have a fantastic career as a middle blocker. I'm sure Fitz will have a great career, if she sticks with it. But this pissing contest is useless as I doubt either is getting looks at OPP for our national team.

She reaches over the net without jumping. Assuming average height reach, which is about 1.3x of her height, she would reach 8.45 feet. That's almost 12 inches over the women's net.

Haha y’all sound like kids. And name-calling? Seriously? I mean, everyone knows Fitz does not jump high. Didn’t really need to at the college level to be successful. And she was very successful. Internationally, she’s a dime a dozen and I hope she has a successful career, but it won’t be on Team USA.

That's almost 12 inches over the women's net. Your point? She can block without a vertical...in college. However, without a vertical, she's offensively ineffectual internationally because OPP gets OOS ball and back row is necessary. Hell, if she can't jump, she won't touch anything blocking superior players. I've looked at th tape; she can't jump. Thus, silly to even be considered in this conversation.
