Kathryn Plummer so slow she won a GOLD U17 FIVB medal....on the beach....anyways I don’t see KP fitting into Karchs system either. As a beach fan I too see her headfing for the beach and I am super stoked. Anyone with Beach knowledge knows she’s a very special player a lot to improve on but man is she a STUD. Plummer/Sponcil or Plummer/Hugh’s is the future.

Given who Karch said "Thanks, no thanks" to at the opp position, they seem to think we're just fine there... which I don't get at all.

Let's see. Plummer probably graduates in 2020, so if she keeps refusing invites, I don't see her competing for the team. Also, I suspect she may be heading for the beach. I don't think the narrative of her refusing invites is quite right. As far as I know, that poster was referring to Stanford's Europe trip interfering with the Pan Am Cup (someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to know if Karch actually invited her to train with the "senior" team).

I would LOVE to see Alex Holston in the gym but it’s probably a long shot And I think she’s still working her way back from injury.

The real question is who will be the best by 26 years old.
Because that's when they'll start training with the A-Team.

She graduated last year, but Rhamat was reported at 11-2 although I'm guessing it's more like 11-0...is she training with team USA right now? Butler is reported at 11 feet. Sun was reported at 10-9 I believe. RJP is only 6-0 but she absolutely skies, has to be at least around 10-6 or 10-7. That said, jump touch is a different animal from contact point when attacking. You watch someone like Sun and she can absolutely sky but it's rare that you see her hitting right over the block like you do with RJP even though Sun likely touches higher than RJP. Same with Butler who is consistently set too low. If Shook can set Brionne high enough she should be able to hit over the opposing block most of the time. Height and length also goes a long way too. It takes a lot more energy for a 6-2 player to consistently jump and contact the ball above 10 feet vs. someone like Rettke who barely has to get off the ground to contact the ball at 10+ feet. As a match wears on, legs get tired and the taller girls have an advantage over the high fliers. For Team USA prospects, I hope that Plummer gets a solid look. She just has a cannon of an arm and is a smart hitter. Butler has immense upside and could be spectacular with time. Hord is another one who intrigues me...great athlete and has good upside still. No way RJP touches that high. Some of you forget how high 10 feet actually is.

Independent of talent, players also tend to self-select themselves out of the running for USA national team roster spots. They may want to enter the real life workforce, get a grad degree, get married and raise a family, or pursue beach volleyball. Who knows. Everyone thought it was a given that Misty May (and perhaps Bonnie Bremner) would set for Team USA in the 2000s, not Charlene Johnson and Robyn Ah Mow. And still later, Lindsey Berg is in but all those other stars from the B1G and Pac-10/12 are out.

No way RJP touches that high. Some of you forget how high 10 feet actually is. She has to be at least top three in vert for any player only 6'. She has the most advanced hitting skill too compared to a Pressley, Owens, or whoever else may come close to her vert. She belongs on the NT now too.

That puts her at 320cm, Sloetjes is 322, Egonu is 344, Bosko is 315, Hill is 320, and Foluke 331, all available on the FIVB web site. If numbers are correct then Bosko with a lower touch is quite superior to Hill. I think Hill's median attack height is much lower than her measured touch.

The BYU broadcasting guys/gals have mentioned on at least a couple of occasions that RJP touches 10' 7" or 10' 9" (I tend to think these things get inflated some but that's my memory of what's been reported). Also, in an early season interview Olmstead said that only Sara Hamson (6' 7" with long arms) has a higher touch than RJP on the team.

I usually subtract two inches by default. Same goes for their height.
