Those other teams are also needing to fill a lot more holes. Given Sydney's redshirt, the recent transfers and incoming class of 2025, we need? A serviceable backup setter and a third middle? For 2026. Maybe players like Acevedo appreciate the culture and want to be gopher despite our dire lack of need but I feel like the general FOMO here is a little misplaced lol

Agreed. However, it would seem that some of these have both. I don’t think anyone is shocked that Wisconsin and Texas are killing it though. That’s expected. You are right. However, I will never be comfortable with WI holding a higher place in the volleyball world than MN. Hopefully Keegan can restore MN back to its rightful place.

I don’t think any MN fan would disagree with you. However, Hugh’s departure complicated things quite a bit, and his later recruiting classes fell apart with transfers out/decommits. Cook’s doing a good job (so far) of still bringing in talent. He has yet to solidify a top recruit like Hugh did with Landfair and Wucherer, but still having top 10-20 talent committing makes me feel a little bit better. And a ranking is a ranking. It’s all about how those players come together and compete as a team, not as individuals.

When you win a Natty the recruiting gets easier in my opinion. I honestly feel like that is the separation from Wisconsin and MN for these top recruits. KK is key to this program. As long as she sticks around this program will continue to rise.

(the best Minnesota teams over the last 20 years were made up of "good" recruits, not "great" recruits)

Hoecke is a great get and probably the most important. Like someone else said, there arent a lot of holes to be filled for ‘26 - An elite pin would be the next biggest get but not really “needed”, if they don’t get the recruit they want they can afford to wait and pick up a portal player.
2026 OH: Acevedo, Kinney, Olivia OPP: Gilk, Schnichles MB: Minatee, Taylor, Hoecke L/DS: Z, Garr, Thibault S: Stella, Ng (probably get a transfer for back up)
‘27 should be a much bigger class

I'm just not sure if Gilk and Schnichles can offer enough fire power. Like you mentioned, not needed but more of a desire for me lol. Excited to see the future back court

Lets get Burley.

I’ve been told Burley is looking out of state. That has been mentioned in this thread before so I don’t think I’m overstepping by repeating it. Would be awesome landing Minnesota’s top liberos two years in a row but I could understand if Burley wouldn’t be thrilled to be a year behind Garr. Or maybe she just wants a change of scenery anyway. Hope she got a phone call at least.
2027 Cora Bicknese seems to be on the radar. In the meantime, what about the MN Select 16-1 DS Alaina Burns? Looking to be a libero? Open to being a role player in the back row? Obviously it would be great to always bring in elite L/DS that compete for the jersey any given year but we don’t quite have the recruiting pull of a Nebraska type program that can get Leimbach to commit knowing Mauch did the year before.

She’s going to be great so missing out on Burley would be a huge loss. Not super on board with Garr being the next great gopher libero. We always seem to be playing catch up with recruiting for this position and our passing has suffered as a result.

I’m seeing posts around the board that big names like Hickman, Robinson, and Watson aren’t expected to commit until they’ve gone on official visits. Apparently Robinson and Watson have Nebraska offers but are still waiting. Wonder if we’ve thrown our name into the hat.
I’ve been silently manifesting Crosson tbh. Not an under the radar player by any means but not getting mentioned much on the board. Could she be off the table by the time the big names commit? I do not envy the staff needing to decide how many eggs to put in what baskets lol. And eggs aren’t cheap these days. Can we Venmo them for the gopher egg fund?

Bellamie Beus is a solid all around player. A bit undersized but she’s fun to watch! Played HS ball with Acevedo, just throwing another name out.

Don’t think Hickman want to be a year behind Gilk Why? Is Gilk locked in as the starter? that I don’t know, but a two year gap will be more likely for Hickman to entertain
