Light Skinned & did not greet by touching foreheads. (nor foreskins) Forget it. I don't expect you to understand. This is beyond you. Not meaning to be mean (this time) but I don't expect a Nebraskan to understand Hawaiian culture and customs. I'll overlook the foreskin jab this one time.

What is extremely apparrent is your inability to take a joke. Mine was not intended as a "Jab" at the culture of Hawaii. I was just having fun & I think you know that but continue to play the victim because that's how we know you best.

As someone coming from Hawai‘i, I thought it was funny. But that shirt and spread just supports my stereotype even more:
1) Mainlanders pick/make the ugliest aloha (or "Hawaiian shirt to mainlanders") shirts
2) Adding pineapples to any dish deems it as "Hawaiian".

Light Skinned & did not greet by touching foreheads. (nor foreskins) Is that a common practice in the Nebraska, British, or American culture? That sounds nasty.

It does sound a bit nasty, unless your into that sort of thing.
I must admit I love "Hawaiian Pizza" & I've never consider it as being from Hawaii, just that the Pineapple does come from Hawaii. I guess it's more of a misnomer then anyone believing it has it's origins from Hawaii. Does that make sense?
I've never owned one of those "Hawaiian" shirts, they clash with my plaid clam-diggers.

It's no different than people stereotyping people from Minnesota. They all think that we are like the characters in the movie "Fargo". But we laugh it off knowing we are not really like that. Well, maybe (R)uffda! is. And I don't expect Hawaiians to understand Minnesota culture and customs.

Contrary to popular belief, you cannot just add pineapple to a dish and call it "Hawaiian". Of course not! It isn't Hawaiian until you add pineapple and Canadian bacon. Haven't had the last two, but I expect I'd like the salmon. I have to admit that I only like squid when it's deep-fried and called "calamari."

Well first let me say that Haole is not a deragotory term. Haole means "breath without" Ha=breath, Ole=without. The Hawaiians greeted by touching foreheads. They used the term "without breath" to decsribe the first foreigners to their Islands because they were light skinned and did not greet by touching foreheads. It was as if they were without soul, without breath. Now the term is used to address caucasians but it in itself is not a derogatory term. Only an adjective added before it like "stupid, dumb" etc could make it derogatory. Either an adjective or tone in use makes it derogatory. Haole in itself isn't derogatory.[/quote]
I cant wait to get my Kathy and Brian bobblehead dolls!! I am going to have them face each other and when their foreheads bump together - I am going to sit there and laugh and laugh and at times point at it and laugh more and REALLY enjoy myself!!
