Wonder if the staff has Candice Denny or Taylor Rowland on their radar?
Denny is a former middle converted to RS and Rowland was an OH.
I worry about pin depth since Gregorski is hurt, Gorum is projected to be a redshirt candidate, and a number of players were nursing stress fractures this past season.

Hostility is key, right?

BUM-MER! Story was that it was still swelling up this year periodically even after her last procedure. At that point I kind of started to worry seriously. Then, after the Rutgers match in NJ when she actually got some playing time, she was sitting in bleachers with some folks looking really down. I had a feeling then that something like this would eventually happen.
This feels like one of those lingering problems that players carry with them from HS and club, which they have lived with because they can get by at that level, and there are no resources to do anything about it anyway. Then you find in the B1G that you can't slide by with a nagging injury like that. Three surgeries looks like they tried whatever they could to fix the problem.
Is beach considered easier on the knees? She used to be a really good beach player as a young-un, if I remember right.

But it does sound like from that article that it may be a good decision for her if she really likes the beach game and can play it without injury.

it's always possible... look at any beach player now... April Ross (4 year indoor) Alix Klineman (4 year indoor) Kerri Walsh (4 year indoor) Sarah Sponcil (4 year indoor) exc... maybe her knees wouldn't be so bad if they didn't keep making their athletes squat 300 pounds coming back from injury... i'm so glad she didn't wait this out her 4 years to play her 5th year as a beach player.

The Loberg/Haggerty comment is interesting considering it's her health, not her relative performance, that kept her on the sidelines. Seems to me that nobody will ever know if Whalen could've earned PT on healthy knees.

I’m glad Mariah is going to find a way to play. She is a good player and a great teammate and she belongs on a court. I’m sad that it can’t be here at Wisconsin, but I wish her all the best.

All 3 of those girls did play beach growing up. Sponcil played on the #1 beach team in the country. Although Mariah also did play growing up, she wasn’t quite the level those 3 were in college. Sponcil is a freak athlete and already one of the best players on the tour. Kline man and Ross were first team all Americans all while playing in California during their career.
