Quite new to the forums, but I was hoping someone can inform me of any Liberos being recruited for 2020 and 2021 class for UT. Where do I find this type of information asides from prepvolleyball? Thx

Thx Peruse this thread, or one about Texas recruiting. It’s also available on richkern.com 2020: Nalani Iosia - Miz LB Riley Heinrich - AJV

Thanks for those. What's the likelihood of UT signing anyone from 2021 when they already have two from 2020?

Thanks for those. What's the likelihood of UT signing anyone from 2021 when they already have two from 2020? Mmmm, dunno. If you look at it, who are our DS'es right now? Rounsaville (L for her state champ volleyball team) and Hahn. They were their high school stud Liberos and technically (as well as Jenna) are listed for UT as Libero.
So your question must be, "What are the chances of signing a nationally rated, stud Libero in 2021?"
Mmmm, dunno.

Thanks for those. What's the likelihood of UT signing anyone from 2021 when they already have two from 2020? For 2018, we started out the season with 4 backrow players in Rounsaville, Hahn, Petersen, and Gabriel. Gabriel took over the starting setter job late in the season.
Rounsaville and Hahn will be seniors this coming 2019 season.
Sydney Petersen will be a sophomore this coming 2019 season.
As someone else noted, Nalani Iosia is verbally committed as part of the 2020 signing class.
Riley Henrich is a local DS who is expected to join for the 2020 class.
So, assuming no attrition, come 2021 we'd have:
Senior - Petersen Sophomore - Iosia Sophomore - Heinrich
Tough to gauge where Jhenna Gabriel will be on the court come 2021 (DS or Setter), but she will be a senior that season.
I could see us adding one DS in the 2021 class, but don't think she'd be a scholarship player.

Does anyone think Iosia could beat out Petersen. She's a totally stud.

I was actually thinking the same thing! Nalani is said to have “the best college serve” but is still in high school. She is also 5’9” while Sydney is 5’4”. It will come down to who can pass better. But I honestly believe Nalani has a chance to beat out Sydney for the starting libero position.

If Sydney spends part of her eligibility as a DS, that means Coach Elliott has finally done some effective back court recruiting (what will VT say about him after that?!?)
I do miss the days when projected starters had a year overlap to get used to the college speed with someone in their position with more experience. We used to overlap Libero and setters, and regardless of the stud coming in, there’s nothing like a year to learn without the pressure- both Hannah Allison and Chloe Collins come to mind. If we’re headed back to that recruiting schedule, it’ll only mean great things.
