Have to say that I am surprised to see Evans make All-SEC. And Donovan for that matter. I know that sounds like I’m hating on UGA, and they should have some representation. But Evans instead of Stroup? C’mon. Also, four setters? Kinda with you on the Evans part. I'm not that shocked to see Donovan. If any Georgia player was going to make it on the list it was going to be her. And yes, four setters is a bit much. Props to A&M for a much better year but Connor for All-SEC is probably the most shocking part to me.

Feel as badly for Purcell as I did for Valle last year. But extremely proud of Rose/Hill for All_Freshman team! Future looks bright!!

I thought Gomez would make all conference. Tom Black definitely should have won COY, IMO. The sum of that team is much better than the parts. Who on UGA is top 3 in the conference at her position? Sometimes these awards feel like they're based on different things each year. And to be fair, Donovan was top 3 in assists per set. They go off in-conference stats, not for the entire season.

clearly some are just popularity contests and not based on total conference stats. pretty sad that this is the case because its screwing over some well-deserving kids. it's sad to see. The league was so competitive this year and to see some of these names is just a slap in the face to those who finished higher in their respective stat categories. shame on the voters.

Or maybe it simply Furthers the point that statistics are not the only way to determine awards. There are non-statistcal characteristics that may impact a vote. And that is a good thing.

Feel as badly for Purcell as I did for Valle last year. But extremely proud of Rose/Hill for All_Freshman team! Future looks bright!! I will forever gripe about Payton Harris not getting it in 2014. She averaged over 6(!) digs per set for the year and had a ridiculous 50+ dig match at some point in that year and the award still went to Kentucky's Napper.

She definitely had a good season that year. I’d be curious to see the serve receive stats and defensive stats and serving stats for conference only to see how close they were to each other.

Krystal Rivers (2016) is the last player to win SEC POY and not have her team finish within the top 2 of the standings, and it took 5.7 kps to get it.

I think serve receive stats may paint a better picture of this. I doubt see an award like that going to an athlete who struggles to hold their position during the remainder of their career

Of course she had a lot of digs.

Multiple hitters make team; multiple setters make team; yet one libero makes team..,and statistically was fourth in conference. Not saying Curry isn’t deserving of making team.. saying some very talented defensive players get screwed year after year because their team doesn’t finish in top two. It’s a different standard that just isn’t fair.

Of course she had a lot of digs. If that's the logic then why don't the bottom teams have ridiculous dig numbers every year? I agree that the team didn't perform well and the blocking wasn't good which led to a lot more swings getting to the backcourt but let's not act like just anyone can put up over 6 digs per set. Maybe not LOY worthy, but definitely worthy of at least All-SEC.
