Do we know anything about her? Nice to see us getting a few Illinois girls. Seems a little short for an OH.

Tamas and staff are definitely at a disadvantage for the next few years in the recruiting wars. We will have to wait until 8th and 9th graders start making their college choices in a couple of years before we get a true handle on how Illinois coaches stack up competing for recruits. In the interim, hopefully Illinois will pick up a few good/great recruits who have waited to make their college choice, or who may have been overlooked by other top programs. Hambly handicapped us in recruiting. When he left, beside the incoming class, we had only one recruit signed (Diana Brown). Most coaches have classes 2-3 years out and he had ZERO signed. Tamas was left with grabbing recruits who hadn't signed anywhere else yet. I'm sure he had the advantage of who Nebraska was recruiting so that probably helped him. He has said before, it will take 4-5 years to see how he does recruiting. Our Final Four will definitely help. Another strong year and we should be fine.

Might be a good idea to see what Tamas plans to do with Sophie too. So far he seems to be a pretty good judge of player potential, and his coaching team seems to be pretty good at developing that potential.

Has potential as a steady 6-ro prospect for the Illini, her and Chizzo (Northwestern) do a lot to free up their middle Dodson (BYU) for Adversity. When I watched her at AAUs, she showed a lot of potential. May be a diamond in the rough for Tamas & Co.

Not sure where I saw the other listed, but I appreciate the correction. On sight I would have given her 6'2", but I'm not the best judge of heights. Once they're taller than me, it's all up in the air

Weren't there some pretty good athletes that transferred out since Tamas arrival that Hambly brought in?

In eight years he took them to: a 140-59 record; 82-38 B1G record; their only championship match; six postseason appearances; et cetera: for a team which had VERY intermittent success after the 1986-89, '92 runs of Mike Hebert. So, Why?

Two transferred for other reasons which weren’t volleyball related - so I was told.

So, Why?I am guessing it is because his Illinois tenure was trending poorly. In his first three years, he finished 2nd in the conference each year and had a Finals appearance. His last five years, he finished 8th, 4th, 3rd, 7th, and 8th, which included missing the NCAA tournament twice. Exploded out of the gate, then fizzled down the stretch.

Well, not the type of reply which answers my question. I used to recruit (D2): it's a crapshoot at any level. So did KH not try, in your eyes? Or was he unsuccessful? AND, notwithstanding, why beat a dead horse so much? Seriously. If he decided to quit recruiting (ie: he knew he was soon to be at Stanford), that I'd understand.
