Random thoughts: Megan improved quite a bit as the season progressed; unless she gives up I cannot help but believe that she should be a force next year. She served tough in the national championship game, that has got to show something. Capri was able to score when they knew it was coming, and she has one of the fastest arms around (also, that one cross court kill showed she is not a one trick pony). Callie should get stronger next year. I always hesitate to judge the new recruits, there are just so many variables, but this group looks very talented. Glad to see we have another Kenzie, makes it easier on an old timer. I think the most interesting speculation in VT is Stivrins to OH; I'm just going to ponder that for some time.

The person I think will need to step it up the most this offseason is Schwartzenbach. Her block numbers were great, but I feel like they were inflated. She got a lot of credit for block assists that I'm not sure how much she actually contributed to. Watching her she was often late with her lateral movement. She also really needs to get stronger. She doesn't attack with much force. While someone like Sun also needs work in several areas, Sun has shown flashes of great athleticism that Schwartzenbach hasn't displayed much of. Hopefully a year in Husker Power will do wonders for her. She seems like a great kid with lots of potential that needs to be tapped.

Either that or her mental game was affected in some way.

Sweet and Schwarzenbach both need to be hooked up to a car battery. Neither are very intense and can hang their heads after mistakes.

Either that or her mental game was affected in some way. Sweet was thrown for a loop a few weeks before the season fall camp started when McClellan bounced with her boyfriend who was at Auburn (of whom cheated on her and broke up within months of her being in Auburn, terrible decision by her)l Sweet, McClellan and Nesh had just put down a lease on an apartment. So, they were more than disappointed and left with a rent issue. I think that put a wrench in things. she had adjustments she had to make with Hames, and also, Sweet had an injury that was limiting her as well. Foecke worked lots with Jazz on the mental aspects b/c Jazz felt she was letting the team down. She had a mentally tough season. I actually was rooting for her all through it. She was dealing with lots and really played her heart out in the Final 4. Everything you are all saying about Jazz, she is VERY aware of within herself. She wants things fixed as bad as we all do. Lets just keep getting behind her and rooting for her. she is a husker and i want her on our team.

Damn a lot of tea right there ^^^ (Jazz was playing well at the start of the season and there were a time where she's averaging 3 kills per set and hitting over .300% Was rooting for her as well. I'm impressed of how she played in the finals!)

Airing someone’s personal life laundry on a public forum prob not the coolest thing.

Guessing the lineup will be: S-Hames OH-Sun OH-Kubik (or Davis) MB-Callie MB-Stivrins RS-Sweet L-Miller (or Knuckles) DS-Miller (or Knuckles) Question is, will Kubik be ready to play 6 rotations from the get go? The team returns a lot of talent in important positions, but big strides will need to be made in the offseason if the Huskers want to be in the title hunt again. I think the biggest x-factor for next year is Lexi Sun. She basically missed out on an entire off season of training and development, plus didn't start playing until midway through the year. The biggest area of improvement needed is her offensive arsenal of shots and being able to finish in tough moments and tough rotations. Biggest areas that need improvement are tooling the block, hitting high hands and swinging out of the bic. She's going to take on a bigger role with Foecke out and had trouble finding the floor in some pivotal moments, so her development as a go to hitter is crucial for this team's success. Sweet seemed to be most effective hitting sharp cross court but regularly hit out when hitting to zone 6 or down the line. Another year with Hames should improve their connection, but she needs to be more consistent after a somewhat underwhelming sophomore campaign. Stivrins was electric in the tournament. Keep improving her connection with Hames, work hard to improve lateral speed blocking and take ownership of this team in the offseason. Schwarzenbach needs to add some muscle and just work on hitting good angles offensively and on the slide. She's a stellar blocker but needs to develop as an offensive threat for this team to be successful. You can nitpick on Hames but she finished the season strong, proved to be a very good defender and did about as much as you could ask for out of a true freshman. I think top priority for her is developing a faster tempo outside to Sun and being able to consistently hit a slide set from 8-12 feet off the net like we see Hilley set Rettke. Stivrins is going to be her best option next year, and I think Nebraska needs to utilize that connection as much as possible. Miller's serve receive was a little shaky at times, but I thought she had a good freshman season and was a big upgrade from Densberger. I'm guessing Nebraska comes in at preseason top 4-5. I don't think you can overstate how important Foecke and Maloney were to this year's team, especially Foecke who just was a winner through and through. A lot of other teams are replacing a senior setter (Illinois, Penn State, Minnesota, BYU, Oregon, etc) or have a couple of big question marks at various spots, so I think this team will be ranked anywhere from 3-5 in the preseason. I was talking to my best friend this morning. He had a unique idea. He was blown away by how talented and dynamic Stivrins was. His theory? Move Stivrins to the left and Zuhn to middle. Never thought of that. Stivrins is too good off one foot to play LS. Her, Stone and Rettke are probably the 3 best slide attackers in the nation.
