I originally listed this info. in the "Top 10" thread. The 'accolades' of the two main recruits Coach Cook brought in for the Huskers to help replace the production of the 2 departing Seniors; Kenzie Maloney and Mikaela Foecke. "This upcoming season should be interesting for the Huskers. Coach Cook only has 2 starting positions that he has to fill this upcoming season. On helping fill Kenzie Maloney's spot: Kenzie Knuckles - the #37 'overall prospect' and the #3 libero by PVC, an UA 1st Teamer, a 2018 MaxPreps and FloVolleyball 1st Team AA and also their "NPOY", the 2018 Indiana Gatorade POY, and she joins former teammate Megan Miller on the Husker back-row - as both players played club volleyball for the Munciana Samurai. Did you know ?: Kenzie played beach volleyball instead of club in 2018 to help improve her ball-handling and defensive skills. On helping fill Mikaela Foecke's spot: Madi Kubik - a 6-rotation OH, the #4 'overall prospect' by PVC, an UA 1st Teamer and UA 'HSAA Match' "East MVP", a 2018 MaxPreps and FloVolleyball 1st Team AA, a gold medal winner on the 2018 NORCECA Women’s U20 Team, and the 2018 Iowa Gatorade POY. *Note: Both players enrolled early - the Spring Semester; playing on the Beach Volleyball Team, and will continue through the summer with strength and conditioning before the Fall Semester begins. I was not saying hames is a bad player at all to clear things up. I just don’t think, besides her defense, in a setting sense she does anything really special. She ran a really high ball offense that was not complex at all. She didn’t make these crazy sets to get 1 on 1s. She got the ball to the hitters but reminded me of Hannah Allison from Texas. Just made really easy highball sets. Hames is a good player and doesn’t hold Nebraska back in any way... but I don’t think she propels them forward either. You know....I think you like us Huskers over here Stanford. We are growing on ya. I have always been a Nebraska fan. Stanford has been my top forever and then Louisville and Kentucky because they are my home state teams. And 4th has been Nebraska or Florida depending on how much I like the players or system that year. Always rooting for Nebraska unless they play my top 3 teams.

Where are the BIG Fans? Otherwise, how do you simulate a beach?

Again I don’t want you all to take this the wrong way, but I was wondering if you all think, aside from the fact that she’ll be a senior and I sure she will start regardless because cook always loves his seniors, do you all think kennedi Orr will be better her freshman year than nicklin is her senior? I currently think Orr is better forsure as of right now. She’s bigger, more versatile and has way better hands. Not a drag on hames and I’m not sayin she is bad it’s just that players as skilled as Orr as young as she is are very rare. I think Orr was better than many of the senior ace setters from this year. I really don’t think cook would ever bench nicklin after starting her 3 years... but I have a feeling Orr will be better at least midway through her freshman season.

If Orr is that good...I certainly won't complain about that! Cook did redshirt Kelly Hunter in what would have been her sophomore year and went with senior Mary Pollmiller, so it wouldn't be out of the question for him to redshirt Orr her first year.

After recently watching Orr play and seeing Nebraska go against my Hawks this season, I think Orr would likely start this season at NU. IMHO, Orr is very good, a rare athlete. She looks clearly to be the emotional stability leader and beat athlete on her club team which is one of the best in the country, as a sophomore.

How tall is Kennedi Orr again? I can see her redshirting her freshman year and she’ll take the reign the next season. Hames can be a libero TBH maybe she can help defensively if Orr starts on her true freshman year.

Orr is already planning a red shirt season, unless there is a hames injury. She wants 4 seasons...
Tho Orr is dynamite, I dont see her beating out hames her senior year....

LOL...you really do have a grudge against Hames. Orr...I have to admit I have watched alot of tape but have not seen her in person. She is good but her defense is not even remotely close to Hames.

I don’t have a grudge on hames I just think that she matches up with past Nebraska setters. Orr could’ve started for Nebraska this year. Her hands are insane. I think the biggest difference is her ability to set tempo and beat the block. 1 second before hames sets a ball you can literally say where it is going every time. Nebraska’s pins were constantly swinging against double blocks in the final. Watching Orr she has the exact same approach and contact point on every single set and sets a tempo ball to either pin and even the middle when out of system. Much more dynamic than hames I think.
