Thought maybe it needed it's own separate thread not entwined with SPRI drama.
Our 1st year playing in WCPL. Who are the "top" teams based on prior years?
Which is the best WCPL facility to play in? We played at 1st Alliance on Davey Rd once last year and I thought it was a dump. The tables were filthy at 7AM and I asked the concession staff for a wet towel to clean them. She gave it to me and shrugged and said, "Yeah, the athletes put their shoes on them at practice last night".

In addition to teams, are there any "must see" players?

Agree on 1A, that place is dumpy. So is Fusion Marengo and you can’t forget to bring water for your player there. Last season for GLPL the water was unpottable.
UNO is newer and clean, the bathrooms stank when I was there this past summer. Don’t know what that was about. The front area is too cramped IMHO, they could’ve utilized that space a little better but it’s the Cadillac to the WCPL gyms in terms of newness and cleanliness.
I’m not sure about Sky High. I actually am not sure what other gyms are being used. I didn’t enjoy Palos Courts either when I was there a few years back but perhaps they upgraded. Not sure if they’re part of the circuit.

It looks like 17/18 open is all at Sky High and Fusion. Sky High is a newer facility I believe?
Palos courts is still a dump
It will be interesting to see how this goes, any idea how this works with bids?

I could see Palos Courts being shut down for mold or something. I always sneezed a lot when we would be there watching volleyball.
Sky High probably is the nicest then, I've seen highlights footage from there but never had the privilege of getting up that way. That's up far North, right? Or am I thinking Energy? Is Energy part of the circuit?

Energy is ok, for sure. The combo of colors and the lighting do make me feel tired afterwards. I always needed a nap after being there.
Is Velocity one of the WCPL sites? That was an ok venue, sometimes felt a little disorganized. I'm not sure what OP was looking for in terms of opinion though on which is the best location. I wonder if it even matters as it is up to the WCPL PTB (powers that be) and you may have a tour of all the facilities by the end of your season. LOL Maybe this should be revisited come May when league is finished.

Sky high has two facilities. One in Crystal Lake, which is newer, spacious, nice. I haven't been to i think the Libertyville, so no opinion. 1A is cramped, pretty dirty and can be a pain to find on Google maps. Palos isn't horrible, but is definitely old and darker than you want. Ok, I guess that's kind of horrible. Velocity is super cramped. Nice place, but feel like if they laid off the courts it could be much more fan friendly. Uno is new, good viewing space. Bathrooms back up and they have do not have ac. Energy is really good for fans, but I may be confusing it as it's been a couple of years since we've been there.

Thanks for the info. Just wondering what the facilities were like as we've never been to most. Fusion Marengo isn't awful, just small. Sure they could use a filtered water fountain, but I'm on well water at home so the water didn't phase me.

Be sure to read each facilities details regarding folding chairs, outside food/beverages. and especially parking - if there is a sign warning of being towed, do not ignore it. some are more firm then others - like you will need to dump coffee or drink it in dining area, you will be asked to take your chairs back to your car, etc.

The few times we went up there we were told explicitly that the water was unpottable and could potentially make people sick. That was by the people AT Fusion not by anyone outside their org. Good to see they may have gotten it together up there in Marengo. it was already inconvenient to go up there and when we forgot to buy water we had to go up to the Casey’s to get some, which ran out because it was a GLPL weekend and then we had to scramble looking for water. Not too populated up there. Gorgeous land though.

The Libertyville location is the old Kratos facility if you had ever been there. It's fairly clean, they have weird courts, not bad...just odd. I know in the past they had issues with their sport court getting slick when it was warmer outside, so I am assuming that is why they pulled out the sport court. And if anyone asks me to dump my coffee, they better specify where or it will be over their head.

Sky High's Crystal Lake facility and Kraots both have had major issues with controlling the temperature balance between inside and outside, part of the time it is just bad luck with mother nature. Most of the other time it is incompetence or complete lack of knowledge for whoever is running the facility and not planning ahead controlling/adjusting the interior temperature and what vents are open and for how long without watching humidity. Crystal Lake has bleachers and more than ample seating, but Kratos is shockingly somehow not a fire hazard the way they have the courts set up and how they jam pack little bleachers in which allow absolutely no space for folding chairs.
I have always thought Fusion Marengo when built, was a means to and end but also a great start for something new, however it is poetic that the size and quality of that facility also emulates the size and quality of product that comes with their "black" teams now as the "red" teams are clearly superior. Also the water may be from a well but in recent years it definitely has not been potable as fusion kid workers will tell you that you have to get water out of the bathroom, but when you turn that sink faucet it just comes out brown and cloudy which is never good regardless of it being from a well - typically means it is contaminated from run off or rusty pipes.
I personally have never had a problem with not allowing outside food or drink into the facility, and anyone that puts up a big stink about it is just a huge jerk. People who played and now coach, or have been to enough junior tournaments, knows that this has been the norm for quite some time since clubs having their own facilities has become regular. They have to make their money the same way you want to be paid for what you do at your job, I have made this argument before how you wouldn't bring a full cooler of food and beer into a professional game (contrary to someone saying they bring their own to Mariners games) so why bring it into a facility that has overhead and does an adequate job providing food and drink for everyone in attendance. There are quite a few facilities in the Midwest area that do a really good job providing concessions, one of those places is Energy who has a GREAT concession stand....now if you want to rip on their color scheme for the walls and specifically championship court that is another conversation I can get on board with.
