I personally have never had a problem with not allowing outside food or drink into the facility, and anyone that puts up a big stink about it is just a huge jerk. People who played and now coach, or have been to enough junior tournaments, knows that this has been the norm for quite some time since clubs having their own facilities has become regular. They have to make their money the same way you want to be paid for what you do at your job, I have made this argument before how you wouldn't bring a full cooler of food and beer into a professional game (contrary to someone saying they bring their own to Mariners games) so why bring it into a facility that has overhead and does an adequate job providing food and drink for everyone in attendance. There are quite a few facilities in the Midwest area that do a really good job providing concessions, one of those places is Energy who has a GREAT concession stand....now if you want to rip on their color scheme for the walls and specifically championship court that is another conversation I can get on board with. I do not mind the food situation, but generally the coffee at these places is terrible. I would gladly pay whatever their coffee price is just to allow me to bring my own coffee in. I definitely understand that they should make their money by not allowing outside food and drinks...I'm just a coffee snob who has a caffeine addiction unfortunately.

Yea I would have no problem with that either, they charge $2-$3 for a "medium" coffee and want to charge me that to bring in DD or Starbucks so be it - bottom line is much greater at that point since you are right, their coffee is most likely poop and they didn't even have to pour a cup. It is just frustrating to see parents freaking out and yelling at kids who are working as a requirement or to help pay off their dues who have absolutely no control over the situation and are just doing what they are told.

If it is frustrating, then just do not have concessions. Allow people to bring in their own stuff. Catch-22 eh. Do you get on parents yelling at kids doing their job at the scorers table and line judging? Or get on parents yelling at officials just doing their job? But seriously, I understand both sides: Parents - I am already paying for my kid to play club ball, I am paying an admission fee, and this is not a professional or college organization (like the Mariners example). Let me bring in a coffee for myself and some sandwiches and granola bars for my kid. Club Directors - we charge a ton of money to our players, we charge an admission fee and often don't provide a seat- you need to bring your own, you're lucky if the restrooms are clean and working, parking is awful, and we are barely scraping by as a club. Please no outside food or drink, patronize our concessions to keep us afloat.

Do you get on parents that are yelling at kids score keeping or line judging? YES! Do you get on parents for yelling at officials? Probably not as much depending on the official because they are adults and most will handle it on their own, but that's not super relavant. If you don't get that, then you are a huge part of the problem. Not being able to bring in outside food is an incredibly common rule for facilities. If you want to be sneaky and bring in your own sandwich and eat it where you are meant to be eating and clean up after yourself, almost no one will stop you. If you are unhappy with the restrooms and parking and rules, then join a different club or convince your director to play in different tournaments but that is NOT an issue everywhere in the Midwest. But hey, if all of that is fine you will probably find something else to complain about anyways.

Yes, in fact I have said here many times before I have no problem telling my parents mid match embarrassing them in front of everyone to stop doing that then will also speak with them after. Parents are paying for your child's training and to be a part of a team, sure some of the cost per season has "court time" fixed in the price because your child is on a team that is using a court during the week but do you really think that is going to cover the overhead (utilities, maintenance, cleaning crew, necessary improvements, unforeseen expenses, etc.) involved with operating a facility? Are you telling me that when you go to a facility to either coach or watch your child play that you are totally prepped with food, drink, snacks, etc? If not it sure is nice that there is a concession stand available, no? Do you complain about going to a high school varsity gym where you most likely are paying an admission fee to watch a match at a publicly funded building not a privately owned/leased one? While on that subject in fact the only place you probably won't find a problem with parking is a high school, any and all facilities you head to anywhere in the country are more than likely going to have a parking problem that has some sort of overflow on a gravel or asphalt section, and honestly it is probably people just parking on the side of a road hoping to not get towed. If you think that clubs that are not doing well plan on keeping afloat by concessions then I am not sure if you fully grasp what is involved in having a facility be a part of your business model. Clubs go broke because they try to get too big too fast, not because they decided to take the risk of their own facility. Do you do your job for free just because at certain times it may inconvenience someone who needs your services?

Please no outside food or drink, patronize our concessions to keep us afloat. Actually...most clubs who have concessions either break even or lose money because much of the food/drink is outsourced for production and not handmade, which also depends how good you are at predicting food costs and consumption. Do you order 1 pizza or 20 pizzas kind of thing and turns in to a catch 22 in making people happy and losing money. If you make things from scratch then it can equate to greater margins, but all the other costs that go into a standard club deli do not necessarily equate to major profits. But clubs that do have concessions also limit outside food for allergy and sanitary purposes. Like the schools who have gigantic signs on the outside of them that say "NO PEANUTS OR BALLOONS"...I highly doubt they're trying to corner the nut and balloon market.

Is this correct? I was looking to see where my cousins daughter was playing today and it is at a club in Indiana? Near Hobart? You're kidding me with this, right? I thought they were @ Energy just yesterday?! That's like a two and a half hour spacing between sites!
I guess I'll ask if there's video. LOL

Closest location would be DEVA/Southland center in Lynnwood, I'll. 30miles from Hobart, IN.

Nice hashtag. You may want to research how those work 😂
DEVA was listed as Indiana online when I did a search. Since you seem in the know: link us audience participants a link to locations since I am going by aes and Google.
And it's also about time, convenience, and a bunch of other stuff. Not all of us have the perspective you do, shame on you to pass judgment on my wanting to watch a family member play and support her in her growth as a player.

Right on that first page they have addresses and directions to all venues.

At velocity and 1st alliance this weekend. Velocity allows you to pay $1 to bring in your own coffee, so that was nice. wish they had enforced teams leaving backpacks on turf or on racks by entrance, as it is super tight for spectators on 6 of the courts. that said, it is nice they have nets between every court. Only saw 2 replays due to ball on the court all day. No other play disruption. 1st Alliance was good as well. wish they had nets between every court, but not too disruptive to the matches. viewing was good. seemed to be a lot of space between back wall and bleachers. Scheduled playing locations were posted in advance (at least 7 days). We knew where 1/2/3/4 from Saturday would play on Sunday and this did not change from the time it was 1st posted. Link from Great Lakes Region: www.greatlakesvolleyball.org/Documents/WCPL/Directions%20to%20Sites.pdf - in addition, most clubs have links/locations to all host sites on their pages as well.

Sky High was very well run yesterday and there didn't seem to be any issues with parking or the facility. I was there and thought parking was not a great situation, when I was leaving there were cars parked blocks away. Sky High is a nice facility, but it'd be nice if they put something up to kill the noise in there. It was pretty loud. It might be the first facility I have been to that actually kept it relatively warm inside. Usually places are freezing.
