Wow, getting blocked 12 times in 4 games and still hitting over .300 is fairly impressive. Heck, hitting .270 in a quarterfinal match and losing is awfully tough. Awfully clean volleyball. 20 hitting errors per team, or so, is really good. Having 4 hitters in double digit kills and all hitting .310 or better and losing really has to hurt. At least CSUSB finishes their year knowing the played a good match. (And no phantom touch call when facing match point, thankfully).

#1 UNK now faces #2 Truman.
Who seeds these things???
#1 UNK def #12 FortHaysState to make Elite-Eight (31-5 w/ 4 losses to UNK and 1 to CSUSB) #1 UNK def #4 CSU SanBernardino in quarters #1 UNK v #2 Truman (was #3 before UCSD lose to CSUSB) Winner likely meets up with #3 Barry in final...
Well they'll definitely know if they win it, they've earned it. (Although I'll bet UNK would have loved to have the chance to have played UCSD; who was knocked out 3-2 by CSUSB after having a match point phantom touch call keep them from sweeping at home.)

#1 UNK now faces #2 Truman. Who seeds these things??? Pablo does! End of the season Pablo had UNK #2, Fort Hays #15 (for the correct round of 16), and CSSB ranked #7. It worked out perfect! Of course, it also had UCSD ranked #1, so had UCSD won, it would have been #1 against #2 in the quarterfinals. Truman is #5, and Barry is #6 Queens of course had a gift just to get there. I was looking for the box score for Truman vs Queens. Game 3 was close, but I wouldn't be surprised if Truman went heavily to the bench in games 3 and even 2.

"knocked out 3-2 by CSUSB after having a match point phantom touch call keep them from sweeping at home." You have referenced the "phantom touch call" twice now in this thread. Rest assured that the touch was indeed legitimate as both, the attacker and the blocker would attest to. I point this out simply because there is no need to cast shadows on any victory in DII NCAA playoffs where the teams are already put at a disadvantage by the ridiculous regionalization philosophy of DII Championships. CSUSB, UCSD, and Hawaii Pacific are ALL among the top eight teams in the nation, and should all be there at the Championships, but only one was able to advance. It's ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that the actual Chamiponship brackett is not even seeded (merely "rotated" from year to year so that different regional winners match up against each other in the 1st round). I mean what are CSUSB and NKU doing playing in the first round anyway? DII athletes and programs get the shaft by the NCAA every year in the top regions...

Usually one hears "PULL" before seeing something projectiled like that. Agree about the regional format for D2. Much prefer NAIA format of at least winner, runner up per region plus a few Wildcards.

2c: Did you happen to notice the lack of protest about the call from UCSD? I mean, I am assuming you were there by the certainty with which you make your judgement. If you were there then you surely saw the lack of protest by UCSD. Clearly a touch.....
NCAA will never change the regional format. All they care about is money. As far as they are concerned, competitive integtrity is a concept they like to tout in their literature, yet not actually use as a guideline.
