My gawd, it's time for one of these ...
*
Where is KK? And, Kubik and Fields are IMO clearly better than Berty.

Knuckles is great hitter in high school, but will she be hitting at Nebraska or be playing a defensive specialist/libero type of role?

Congrats to all!
Is that a typo, or is Sarah Martinez really a 6'4 Libero?

Wondered the exact, same thing. @ 5'9", she makes Meghan McClure (a generous 6'0") seem like a giant! In my memory, I do not recall such a short OH (since 1980's). ondered

Stanford just keeps reloading. Well - yeah - that is how dynastic, legendary programs kept being Just That: have to keep that "pipeline" flowing. I'm sure PSU had Quite The incoming 'railroad' 2007-'10.

Isn't this just a case where the passers/setters couldn't feed Kipp (and Fields) accurately and often enough and therefore their numbers didn't match up to Berty's? If that's the case, I regrettably understand.

Angie Pressey was 5-7 or 5-8 for Cal and was an absolute stud on the left. Misty May was also 5-9 and recruited as an OH for Long Beach even though she ended up being a setter. I dont think there is much doubt she would've been a standout on the left for Long Beach.

From experience, I am Quite hesitant to assume that incoming, just-graduated HS players will star - let alone start - in their first year of NCAA DI play. In 2017, John Dunning, before his retirement, recruited two Frosh-to-be (of any consequence): Kate Formico and Meghan McClure. At that time, Meghan was ranked #10 by VB Magazine; Formico was unranked; her main notoriety was being Kerri Walsh's cousin.
At the time, Hodson was projected to return, from her injuries, to Stanford's lineup. Vanjak (I do believe) had not yet decided whether to come back for one more year (which she didn't). McClure was Nowhere on SU's 'map' to get much of any playing time....Well, she was "thrown into the fire" b/c Neither Vanjak nor Hodson ever returned! I knew she was someone uniquely special when, in a match in Boulder in '17, she incurred a Severe ankle injury: which necessitated a medical time-out. She refused to come out, and she was instrumental in Stanford winning that match. What A Warrior. Formico has had struggles, and yet her serving was a Huge component in SU winning the recent NC. McClure? She only hit the winning kill in an NC Championship Final (which can never be taken away by anybody: It's Hers)!
So, my point is that Neither of these two student-athletes were projected to do much of anything, initially. I can - but won't - name a number of "sure fire" hotshots who got a ton of hype, yet never realized the lofty prognostications (as in a well-known one who just competed in the NC title match after transferring). SO, ya never know! That's why they play the games.
