Well, this is awkward because I thought you were 48 years old. My parents and I don't do "reassure." They trusted me and my siblings. We also didn't ask them for love and support. (This sounds worse that it really was. LOL!) Before we headed off to college, it was basically, "See ya!" idk if that should be a compliment that you thought i was 48. anyways, my mom is too protective Make friends with a tech nerd in college. Set up a video cam that loops video of you sitting at your desk studying in your dorm room. Give mom the password or site access. Seriously, though. Sit down with mom and try to work out a communication plan. Be willing to share some basic info with her, like your general schedule (daily or weekly) and try to set some rules and boundaries with her about frequency of communication (I'm assuming your thinking/worried about her texting, calling or face-timing constantly). Tell her you are concerned about managing your time in college because of all your responsibilities and that it can stress you out if she contacts you all the time, so can you set some regular times to connect (unless it's a real emergency). Hopefully, that will also help alleviate some of her anxieties, which leads to wanting to know everything you're doing.

I was hoping the recent windy days would take care of my leaves problem, as I didn't want to rake them. But no.

Whatever happened with the summer kitchen Wolfgang? If you have already posted updates, I must have missed them.

Whatever happened with the summer kitchen Wolfgang? If you have already posted updates, I must have missed them. It's a process. Still ongoing. It will be done by December. I'm doing it all by myself from scratch so it'll take some time. Plus video games.

also, a duck update.
Squeaky's last clutch was eleven eggs. They all hatched and this time three of them were yellow! And turns out ducklings are racist because the yellow ones only hung out with each other and the brown ones only hung out with the brown ones. Don't worry, they all died so they wont be teaching their racist ways to any offspring. Only one of Squeaky's first clutch is still around. She is female (named her Polly) and she hangs out with the surviving duck that I raised (Charlie). Don't know what happened to Lisa (who also turned out to be male). I see Charlie and Polly several times a week and every now and then Charlie gets on my back porch and poops a lot. He still struggles with his desire to be dominant over me so I pin his body and, most importantly, his head to the ground until he quits struggling and admits that I am alpha-duck. He doesn't try to dominate any other humans.
I haven't seen Polly's parents (Squeaky and Big Daddy Robert Baratheon) lately. They probably have gone to a nearby park where a human feeds ducks every day.
I saw two of the mallards that I raised spring of 2017 this week and the wood ducks are back every morning swimming in the fog. It is quite beautiful.

i am sad to hear about the ducks not surviving Honestly not sad about it. If all 25 ducklings had survived, I would have so much duck poo I wouldn't be able to stand it. I know the raccoon got one of them (he was almost full grown) and the little ones usually get picked off by the red shouldered hawk. Gators, turtles, large bass and other ducks will also kill them. Interestingly, the ducks, and other water birds, can tell the difference between the ospreys and the bald eagles and only take cover if the eagle is around. A lot of humans can't tell the difference so I think that is pretty astute. For the most part, the eagle just waits for the osprey to catch a fish then he attacks the osprey and steals the fish and takes off with it. Bald eagles are bullies.

Does anybody have a robot vacuum that isn’t a Roomba?

Does this happen to you? I was vacuuming my car and found a strap w/ a metal clip (see photo below) on the floor under the passenger seat. It was something my wife used to tie her cell phone case to her briefcase, but I guess she lost it some time ago. I set it aside, on the dashboard. I continued vacuuming until I got to the dashboard. Instead of picking up the strap/clip, I decided to vacuum around it. You know what happened? That strap/clip got inadvertently vacuumed. I thought, Oh no, it got tangled up somewhere in the pipes and it'll be murder just to get that thing out. (Things like this happened to me before. LOL!) I don't even know why I always believe I can vacuum around small things thinking that the vacuum won't suck it up.

The pros and cons of having a dog. My dog is an archaeologist. Despite his passion, I scold him for the many digging activities in the back and front yards. So, my solution was to remove the temptation by creating stone pathways. I basically placed a flat decorative stone at each of my dog's dig sites. Over time, this has come out looking really nice. Ironically, if it wasn't for the dog, we'd have a less appealing yard. It's almost as if he was telling me where to put the next stone.
