Here’s a challenge to the volleytalkers. It’s pretty easy to rank 2019 recruits as they finish up senior year. Most of these kids have been hyped up for years...Knight, Lamp, Solan, Rottman...and it’s just a matter of moving guys up or down a slot or two.
Everybody knows these kids are top of classs in high school and as junior boys players. The real question is who will be topping the stats as D1 players? Who will contribute as impact players as frosh? Who can you identify that “isn’t” necessarily a top recruit right now, but going to be in college. This is the real question not what “is” right now. That’s obvious, but who is “going to be” the top players on college.
My picks:
Inyaki Bustamante Sebastian Negron Akin Akinwumi Teilon Tufuga Justin Stone (not recruited yet, may not play in college)

Often times the top 5 do really well in college and beyond. Sometimes they fall off and others move ahead.
This group below panned out pretty well. We will see who ends up on this years list and how they eventually do. Clearly some will soar and some not on the list will step up. First let's wait and see who makes it.
Fab Five 2017 1. Jaylen Jasper OP 2. Joel Schneidmiller OH 3. Adam Parks S 4. Sam Lewis MH 5. Gage Worsley L
Others on the list also soared
Matt Anderson, Kawika Shoji, Micah Christenson, Taylor Sander, TJ Defalco, Jordan Ewert, Jake Arnitz

Akin’s serve receive isn’t horrible. He could potentially be a left side. He lacks consistency which is the fun of this exercise. Who will grow into a impact player who isn’t one rn. This is the challenge coaches have who are not top 5-10 programs. These coaches have to dig deeper into the class and IMO that takes some recruiting talent. I look at a program like CSUN and they don’t get “top recruits” but they’ve done a nice job of piecing a nice team together.
UCLA gets the cream of the crop as far as recruits and up until the Lewis match a few days ago, 3 of their starters were transfers. Illustrates that top recruits don’t always work out as top D1 players.
I’m more interested in who’s not a current top recruit. Who’s going to emerge in college.

What would be a lot more interesting would be the sleeper hits in club right now totally emerge as stars in college and the next level. Yeah, these kids talked about above have been talked about for years and will probably still be talked about later. I'd like to see some more variety and talent in the upcoming classes.

Garo is interesting. He has great physicality, but I haven’t seen it applied to his game. He could be that player who excels in college. If he finds more confidence, he could break out.

Also Karl stenlund is gonna be a beast I think Karl lacks any consistency and shrivels when faced with competitive, in-your-face opposition. Until he becomes mentally tougher there will be little hope for him on a grander stage.

His combination of size and passing could make him dangerous in a few years
